We had so much fun day hiking here last year, we came back again this year, only for backpacking. We came in mid-June out of the Paradise Meadows trail head. Trails are really well maintained and well marked closer to the trail head, but get more rugged as you get further in. Which in my opinion just makes it that... More

One of our fav BC Parks for both kayaking and backpacking. Their are marine sites, only accessible by boat on Buttle and Campbell Lakes with picnic tables, fire pits and outhouses. Cost is $10/pp/night and well worth it. Sites are tidy. Backpacking opportunities range from day hikes to multi day to access spectacular scenery including Della Falls, Canada's highest water... Perfect for people who would like to get away from internet and cell phones, and would like to marvel in nature's beauty! Enjoyed 5 days and 4 nights in Buttle Lake campground. This is our second camping in Strathcona, the first one was in Ralph River campground. We hiked, fished and enjoyed Myra and Lupin falls. We also went to... More

I think my review of this campsite would be better if I had been prepared ahead of time. My family insisted on camping here but failed to tell me that there were no services - no showers; no flushing toilets. It's not the park's fault that we arrived late, in the driving cold rain. Nor is it the park's fault... More

We spent a couple of days exploring the park including Paradise Meadows, Lady Falls, Buttle Lake, Karst Creek, Elk River viewpoint plus many of the short hikes on the way to Westmin and also visited Gold River. The weather was not good, raining most of the day but the views were still stunning. Most of the wildlife was obviously hiding... More

Park's trails are not maintained or marked. We went on a trail for approximately two hours excepting to see some sort of notification of our location on the trail. Nothing to be seen. Fortunately we ran into other hikers who knew the trail. They told us we were a quarter of the way. The entire trail was uphill with the... More

We just enjoyed a day trip to this park and did all the short hikes. Elk River viewing area, Lady Falls, Lupin Falls and Myra Falls. All were great to see. The power of Lady Falls was amazing! The trailhead info says its a slight uphill walk but I would saying it's a little steeper than slight. In saying that,... More

Buttle lake in strathcona is my favourite family tradition! Camping here is awesome, the sites are always well taken care of and the outhouses actually smell OK. The whole park is stunning with the mountains and the beautiful lakes.
