Neighborhood: Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.

A relaxing experience at Halsa Spa. We did the couples float in an Ocean room. It was a totally relaxing experience, the staff were friendly and explained things clearly. The room and float pool were clean. We had an amazing experience. Thank you Halsa!

Entering HÄLSA you feel immediate calmness. You know when you walk into a church and it feels holy? That’s what HALSA is to relaxation. We experienced the float for 90 minutes, sounds long but it’s amazing. It definitely clears the mind and the salt water is obviously amazing for your skin. After the float we did the far infrared sauna for 30 minutes, definitely interesting. The benefits of this type of sauna are endless. Amazing place to detox, clear your mind and meditate. After the sauna, we showered, robed up and ended it with hot tea and coloring. The thing is we didn’t want it to end!! This truly was the best experience we’ve had at any spa. Thanks HÄLSA!

Love Halsa spa in Kitsilano BC. I've been various times for massage, floats, and craniosacral treatments. Lovely place and lovely people.
Thank you.

I spent 4 hours at Halsa Spa after a 3 day symposium and before a red eye flight to Florida. It was delicious. Christopher is kind and warm and his place ( I'm assuming it's his!) is the perfect getaway Zen experience. I loved the 90 minute float. It's physically and spiritually deep and playful, safe and peaceful. The infrared sauna and massage were good but the astrological encounter with Celia Lyons and the float tank were the standouts. I would not miss this when I come back to town. Thank you and your staff for a lovely farewell afternoon in Vancouver.

Went with my partner for an hour in the sauna on a cold, rainy Sunday evening. Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. This place really is a gem!
Our experience began with a tour of the facility, and then we were left in our private sauna. As in the Finnish tradition, you strip down to nothing and then melt away in the sauna, with the occasional break as needed. The sauna was lovely - not too hot - and the attached shower room was very clean. This is a really nice way to spend an hour, and will work wonders on your stress level!
Everything about this place is high-end and luxurious - from the clean, tasteful decor to the discrete customer service. I am looking forward to going back for a float!
Word of advice - be prepared to park a block or two away, as the parking in Kitsilano is at a premium.

I've had many massages, and the last two (at Halsa Spa) have been the best ever. So good. Love the float too. What a great way to end the week!

My second time floating and first time exploring the Ocean float at HÄLSA Spa. I was informed that it’s a different system than the Genesis (my first float experience). As I slipped my feet into the spa slippers that fit my feet perfectly, in that moment I felt deep resonance with the story of Cinderella. Isn’t it true after Cinderella’s foot fit the glass shoe, her true identity was revealed and her destiny finally unfolded in hope to be embraced by the protagonist? As I walked through the vestibule to arrive at the door of Ocean two room, I felt anticipation for what is to be revealed. I stepped into a space with a shade of purple light. In this purple shade of light I feel I can tap into the realm of imagination a bit more. As I stood under the shower in utter silence, I let the water rinse away any doubt that I may have in becoming the heroin of my own story. The session began with the gentle sound of music and I stood in front of the door making a vow to myself that what ever happens from here onwards I am in surrender. I opened the door and stepped into the water which felt a comfortable temperature to the skin. As I entered the unfamiliar realm , there are two squishy buttons, one on the left side for switching on/off the lights, the right one didn’t affect anything. I closed my eyes and felt the texture of the light button which was a bit course on the top than the one on the right which had a smooth surface. This allowed me to recognize by touch sense the difference between the light button in dark if I need the lights on. I held the handle which is on the left (when facing the door) and closed the door shut. The blue shade of light was soothing and I felt I am looking into a galaxy above- a blue Milky Way that is millions of years old but a witness to my many births on this planet earth. As I lay floating in the salty water which carried the weight of my body with such ease and grace enveloping me in its embrace - I felt weightless and formless. The music ended after few minutes of playing and the darkest of dark night took over. As I stared into this space of nothingness, I held on gently to the handle. This provided comfort in the beginning. Letting go off this handle simply meant I will drift into the unfamiliar realm and loose any sense of the space. Keeping in mind that the Ocean room is a bigger space than Genesis. A sensation arise and then thoughts followed - Why am I clinging to this handle? What is it inside me that is afraid? And what is it afraid of? What if I let go of what is familiar and let myself drift into the unknown? What if the unknown is the real? How do I know if drifting is better than holding on? As these sensations gently stroked my mind, I let the handle go - and gently drifted off into the deep darkness and silence. I lost all sense of the familiar space and to be honest it didn’t matter at all. As I closed my eyes and fulfilled the promise of surrender. I felt an utter pause within and outward. No sign of any movement and in that stillness, I drifted into a deep rest. After sometime I woke up with the same deep dark however the dark which was familiars day comforting. I felt a sense of courage and solace at the same time. Making my way slowly to the squishy button to switch on the light. As the blue lights came alive again, I held on to the handle again however this time to help myself raise from the loving embrace of the water. For everything has to come to an end. As I stepped outside the door into the shower, I heard the moon and the angels say something about the destiny and also “no more hiding.” The next few minutes I spent getting dressed, looking myself into my own eyes in the dressing room mirror - I affirmed to myself “I give you permission to be just you.” “ You are utterly worthy of love so now go ahead climb that mountain and cross that bridge.” Afterwards, with this sense of happiness I poured some hot yogic tea which is of course is complimentary and enjoyed a quiet comfortable seat at the lounge looking at the night sky from the glass wall.
I would like to mention that I absolutely loved my both float experiences Genesis and Ocean. Also I loved the order of which I experienced them シ The spa is a wonderful sanctuary and I absolutely in love with the floating.

I was given a gift certificate for my birthday so booked a 90 minute massage with Eva. I picked her specifically from the list of body workers as she is described as a muscle ninja who deals with chronic pain - just want my aching body was in need of.
Wow - it was truly the best massage I have ever had. Eva asked a lot of questions about my areas of pain and muscle stiffness and knew exactly which spots to work. She also provided some great suggestions on what I can do at home to work out the knots and areas of long term soreness in my hip, lower back and leg. The atmosphere at Halsa is calming, the staff is lovely and and it's great to find a local spot with such high calibre body workers. I will definitely book another massage with Eva.

This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had never experienced floating before and was a little bit apprehensive about the experience. I chose Halsa due to the fact that they had float "rooms" in addition to the pods I've seen at other places. I thought that I would enjoy that experience more. Little did I know that was only a very minor part of what made my day at Halsa so incredible.
I was met at the front door by Christian. He was very warm and welcoming and gave me a tour of the entire facility. And what a facility it is. Absolutely immaculate, very inviting and comfortable. There is a "lounge" filled with interesting books and a lot of natural light, and several float rooms, massage rooms and saunas. There are also ample washrooms and places for you to use hairdryers and mirrors after your service.
I settled in to the lounge and was looking through an astrology book when Christian came to take me to the float room. As we were discussing astrology, and I was stating how I was a bit overwhelmed by the book, he offered to map out my astrological profile - and when I mentioned how I was trying to figure out a family member - he offered to do that, too! He left our full profiles for me to review after my float.
Anyway, I was led to the float room, where Christian explained the entire float process in great detail. You basically shower, then enter the float room while soft music plays. After 15 minutes, the music stops. You are in control of the lighting from inside the room. Christian explained that the true experience is to float with no music or lights but that it was up tp me. I chose to go for it and it was incredible. They provide ear plugs and a neck rest to make you more comfortable. I floated for 90 minutes and was AMAZING to just let go of the outside world and be in complete silence and darkness. When the float ends, you shower again - they provide soap, shampoo and conditioner that they create on-site.
I was having a massage next, so I went back to the lounge to wait. My massage was performed by Eva and I'm not lying or exaggerating when I say that this woman has the hands of an angel! It was the best massage I've ever had. Not only that, Eva's personality was so kind and gentle. She sat with me for several moments and asked questions about what I wanted to get out of the massage, what was going on with my body currently, what essential oils I liked, etc. Just to show you how amazing she was - I currently have a bruise on my face - above my cheekbone, as the result of a medical procedure. She noticed it and asked if I was sore and if it would be painful to lay with my face down. And then she asked, with true concern, if I was ok. She wasn't prying AT ALL, but I could tell, in that moment, she was genuinely concerned with the fact that I had a bruise on my face, and wanted to make sure I was safe. That meant a lot to me.
The only disappointing thing is that I'm not a local, and won't be able to experience Halsa more often. I do know for sure that whenever I'm back in Vancouver, I will be making an appointment here.

Today was my first time at Hasla. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The lounge is the perfect place to relax and have delicious tea. I felt renewed and happy. I would definitely come back and recommend to friends and family.
