Spent a wonderful 4 hours walking through Chinatown with Bob Sung. Bob is a wonderful host and very easy to talk to. He takes the time to get to know everyone on the tour a little so that he can direct his commentary to everyone and make it more meaningful. The tour starts at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens and wraps up at The Chinese Tea Shop with several stops in between. I learnt so much and ate well too! Bob will also try his best to accommodate any dietary restrictions. If you like learning about Chinese culture, food, and Chinatown's history, then I highly recommend this tour when you are in Vancouver. Thank-you Bob for a wonderful start to our vacation. I spent the week sharing the little tidbits of information you had imparted and telling everyone I could to take your tour.

Absolutely loved this tour! Bob is energetic, knowledgeable, & passionate. He clearly loves teaching others about his culture & food migration. Bob is the type of person who’ll save a strangers life (not kidding, he did), then continue the tour with enthusiasm. If I could give 6 ⭐️’s I would! Thank you Bob for sharing your passion for your culture & food with me & for saving a stranger’s life!!

We did both the "Wok around Chinatown" and "Wok around Granville Island", and both were excellent! This is a very personable tour and Bob is extremely knowledgeable of the customs and foods that you will experience. Because Bob is Chinese/Canadian, he is extremely knowledgeable of both Canadian and Chinese foods and customs. You will not go away hungry! You will eat during the tour and have plenty to take back with you. This was probably the best, most interactive, tour that we have ever been on. If we ever get back to Vancouver, we will do both of these tours again, if for no other reason, just to interact with Bob! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!

Fourth generation Vancouver resident Bob Sung started with a private tour of the amazing Sun Yat-Sen Gardens, which provided cultural and historical context for our walking tour of interesting bakeries, herbalists, butchers, and green grocers. Great non-food stops included the kitchen shop to talk about woks and cleavers and the dizzying and vivid Taoist Temple inside an otherwise nondescript office building. After some samples at a bakery and barbeque place, the tour ended not with a few bites, but a full service dim sum lunch with a dozen or so dishes, including chicken feet. Bob was informative, interesting, and solicitous, even making sure that he included menu options for one of our group with a shellfish allergy. Highly recommended!

I've lived in Vancouver and visited it's Chinatown hundreds of times, yet I came away inspired and the day after the tour re-visited some of the stops on this tour. Robert Sung leads this four hour tour. He's a 4th Generation Canadian of Chinese descent with 25-years background in the Food and Culinary Education industry. Our tour began at the Sun Yat-Sen Gardens where Robert gave a 20 minute introduction to Chinese culture and then we were on our way... bakeries, herbalists, barbecue meat shops, produce stores, kitchen ware shops, and even a Taoist Temple which I never knew existed. The tour was suppose to end with a demonstration of the tea ceremony but the tea shop was closed because it was early in the New Year. We ended with some delicious dim sum. I've had dim sum many, many times but Robert inspired me to try Braised Chicken Feet for the first time. It was better than I expected. Very glutenous and not at all hard to swallow.

I highly recommend this tour for people visiting Vancouver and Vancouverites alike.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed out tour through Chinatown with Bob. It exceeded our expectations. It was so much more than just a foodie tour. We learned about history, culture, and culinary. Bob was very engaging. We quickly felt like we were out for a stroll with a friend. We tasted lots of delicious foods during our walk and stopped for dim sum at a local restaurant. Bob took into consideration any allergies when ordering lunch. Everything was yummy. We enjoyed exploring the different shops along with Bob's explanations of the different fruits, vegetables and medicinal ingredients.
The tour finished with at a tea shop where we learned the proper Chinese way to prepare and drink tea - very fascinating. The tea shop owner was a wealth of knowledge.
We would highly recommend this tour!

My son and I met Bob for this amazing tour! His insight, humor, and kindness are unparalleled. We learned the beauty and meaning of the classic gardens and properties, we visited amazing shops of medicinal exotic items to grocery to meat and more and indulged in pastry, BBQ pork, Dim Sum and gourmet tea on our way. Words really don’t do it justice - go! You will have a fabulous time. We felt we entered as tourists and left as friends!

My sister and I had exceptionally great time with Robert who talked with us about culture and cuisine. He was so knowledgeable and really gave us a great sense of Chinese culture, metaphors and meanings for the way the Chinese live their lives. I would highly recommend this walking tour to anyone interested in learning about Chinese culture and cuisine.

Robert is extremely knowledgeable and gives a great tour. The food is fantastic and really authentic. If one is interested in the Chinese culture in Canada and good food this is a must-do tour coming to Vancouver.

I’ve lived in Vancouver for four years now and never really ventured out to China town. But Bob integrated the tour with so much knowledge, and my I really enjoyed eating the different foods that I haven’t experienced before. The garden where the tour starts is beautiful and learning about the traditions in the culture as well in how the garden was constructed from these traditions was so interesting. You can tell that Bob is passionate especially about food but also his own culture and was able to share it with us on the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn more about Chinese culture/town.
