Fourth generation Vancouver resident Bob Sung started with a private tour of the amazing Sun Yat-Sen Gardens, which provided cultural and historical context for our walking tour of interesting bakeries, herbalists, butchers, and green grocers. Great non-food stops included the kitchen shop to talk about woks and cleavers and the dizzying and vivid Taoist Temple inside an otherwise nondescript office building. After some samples at a bakery and barbeque place, the tour ended not with a few bites, but a full service dim sum lunch with a dozen or so dishes, including chicken feet. Bob was informative, interesting, and solicitous, even making sure that he included menu options for one of our group with a shellfish allergy. Highly recommended!
