The cellar was one of my favourite places to go. Certainly the best Jazz joint in the city with all the character and charm required by a jazz club. Unfortunately, its now closed. The cellar website is still active and will point you in the right direction for upcoming jazz in the city. The cellar owner is still quite active... More

Ok, I had a cursory look through the reviews already posted and can see that this is going to come as a bit of a shock. I wasn't going to bother writing this and when you get finished reading it you may wish I hadn't. But, I just couldn't let this go. My wife and I have been to Cellar... More

We went on a Monday blues night (Hells Gate Blues band very, very good ... see their website, see and hear their rendition of Hound Dog!) for dinner and the early 8PM set. Reservations weren't necessary that night but I think they usually are. The setting and mood of the room are perfect. We live 294 miles and 5 hours... More

Good venue of real jazz lovers. Packed on weekends-good to come earlier. Food is a liitle pricy, but atmposphere is great. Owner is saxophonist & participate in performances. Entry fee is $17 per person.

Don't miss a chance to visit the cellar jazz club. It is 3611 Broadway - about 10min by taxi from Downtown (around £15). We were lucky - heard a great trio from NYC - Mike Ledonne (piano), Joe Fairnsworth (Drums) and John Webber (bass). Super! The charge - $30 music, plus min $20 per head on food. the food was... Absolutely amazing place. They put on a pulsing 2.5 hour show. Brought up different musicians and singers. Danielle, who served us, went up for a couple songs and nailed them (then went back to schlepping beers, which seemed a little odd). Food was pretty good for a club. Drinks were full price and small (again, typical for a club). Will... More

We visited on a Monday night in May 2012. The blues was great and we really enjoyed the night. The food was average - good meat but not much of anything else on my plate - but inexpensive. We caught a bus there and a cab back to the hotel. If I visit Vancouver again I will return.

I saw that the Cellar is #2, and thought "well what the heck is #1 then?" ok, ok, I guess Stanley Park is good too. But this place is great! great line-up of awesome local and international musicians, not too pricey, free parking for once, and the food is surprisingly good for a jazz club! Get out there and check... More

this is a quaint jazz club. it's at the bottom of a set of steep stairs so could be hard for people to get in with mobility issues. however once inside the place is littered with a wonderful jazz ambiance, paintings of great jazz musicians on the wall and friendly wait staff that serve great food and drinks. there is... Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
