Built in 1929 and located on Granville Street in the heart of downtown Vancouver, there can be little doubt that the Commodore Ballroom is an icon of the city and, indeed, the country. Over the course of some 90 years, this Art Deco-style building has...More

Came here to see 54:40 perform tonight. Been here now over Three hours and they still haven’t got on stage. We may leave before the show even starts. Maybe the way they run it here but I thought we we coming to a concert.

Attended the Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark concert. Saw them in 2011 and now in 2018 at the same location. OMD was awesome both times and the venue was great too. The cover band Gold was pretty good too. It’s a smaller, cozier place where...More

Wonderful voice but ruined by the way too loud backing. Couldn’t hear her lyrics Sound way too ambient for her voice. The Venue was better they tell me

I went to this venue for my first time. It was easy to get drinks, seating was a little more ticky but everywhere you were you could see the band. I'd happily go there again.

We've eaten here a couple of times when attending a concert in the evening. It's a pretty good venue for a concert. Not too big and not too small and plenty of atmosphere. Music sounds really good here. The menu isn't huge but there's a...More

Probably due to the event that was not exactly entertaining, but the location itself doesn't have anything special. Nice bar, not far from downtown, but the feeling is that what makes this ballroom interesting is the show and not the ballroom that makes the show...More

Entertainment District Bars and Food? (7 Replies)
Just wondering if anyone can recommend any good bars AND restaurants that are close to the Commodore Ballroom. I'm not looking for fine dining, but rather just really good food in a casual atmosphere. Looking for chill bars with good beers and cocktails. Thanks!

If you're looking for good food, cocktails and beer in a casual atmosphere within walking distance - there are two places I'd look into. 1. Uva Wine Bar. It looks high end from the outside, but I always go here for a pre/post concert drink. Tasty morsels of food (I've been very happy with their risotto balls). It's literally just around the corner from the Commodore on Seymour and Smithe. The cocktails here are great, although sometimes the service can be hit and miss. 2. The Refinery....More

Looking for a clean hotel for a good value... (3 Replies)
I'm going to be up in Vancouver in August for a concert at the Commodore Ballroom. I'm looking for a hotel that is close to the venue and is a good value. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The Commodore is at Granville and Smithe, in the thick of the entertainment strip along Granville St. Do you mind not getting to sleep until late and then not getting very much sleep? Hotels in the thick of things are: Comfort Inn Downtown on Nelson @ Granville Holiday Inn Hotel on Howe @ Helmcken HoJo on Granville @ Davie Slightly away from the strip but still close enough to walk are: Executive Hotel Vintage on Howe @ Drake Quality Inn on Howe @ Drake BW Plus on Granville @...More
