Brilliant public transit system.

1st used the Skytrain in 2000. Great value way to travel around Vancouver. We find the day-pass is brilliant as it includes the Seabus as well, to take you over to Lonsdale. Once you know where you want to go, you just hop-on-off. You don't need a car when in Vancouver B.C..

We used the sky train as part of a journey to the ferry port to get a ferry over to Victoria. It was easy to use the ticket machines, although we did have help from a station attendant. He told us where to get off to get a bus for the remaining part of our journey. The train is very... More

Confession--I live in the Lower Mainland and almost always drive rather than take the Skytrain. In part this is because the ticketing system is nearly impossible to figure out. On almost every occasion I've had to rely on the kindness of strangers to help me sort out what kind of ticket I need. With the new Compass system I dread... More

Quick and easy to get to from the airport. Makes for an easier way to reach downtown or the waterfront. We needed to get from the airport to North Vancouver and the skytrain was ideal as the last station is adjacent to the seabus terminal which took us to North Vancouver. We arrived early morning on a weekday and it... More

We used the sky train to go from the airport to our hotel on the waterfront and it was reasonably priced easy to get to, clean inside and a smooth ride.

The skytrain is great for tourists. I use it to get downtown from the Vancouver Airport. Easy to use and very direct. One could probably reduce the cost of a stay in Vancouver by choosing less expensive hotels in the suburbs - the service is that quick and runs fairly late. Cars are clean and usually uncrowded - bike and... More

Sky Train is great way to get from airport to city center. Right outside of terminal is Station. Went to city center with no problem. First time in Vancouver and got info at airport for correct stop. Ticket purchase easy. Train is clean and stops announced well ahead of time

We used the Skytrain a lot during our visit. It was fast and easy to navigate and well worth the charges. Only negative is a $6 fee for the card and any unused balance you load on the card is lost. You can get the $6 refunded but they do not make it easy to get the refund. We ended... More

Always on time, quick and maps are easy to read. The lines have been set up in an odd manner, e.g. when you have to change over at Commercial and Broadway, but you get used to it.

convenient for visits in some parts of Van though not very extensive network. But very fast (train every 5 min) and people working there are helpful and very nice.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
