You can take the elevator up to the mezzanine for better views and photos of the grand entrance hall and the two stained glass windows- sunrise and sunset and clock with sea creatures (instead of numbers). Elevator interiors are gorgeous with local varieties of inlaid wood and exterior doors have bronze starbursts. Two charming phone booths in lobby protected by a little ship at sea. You see sea creatures and ships everywhere. Beautiful, stylish 2nd floor!
Separate but in same building is the JJBean coffee shop with 2 outside tables and Tractor everyday healthy foods…very delicious oat, apricot cookie!

I noticed this art deco running structure before finding out more about it
Having appeared in many films .. the exterior despite being different to the surrounding modern glass skyscrapers, belies the stunning internal art deco interior. Now predominantly offices, the access was mainly ground and 1st floor via a beautiful lift
With the 15 min look around

Being a big fan of Art Deco, I was really pleased to be able to see this up close, although sadly in the evening so wasn’t able to go in. But it’s still great to photograph the exterior. There is a small information panel on the Canada Place walkway too.

1929 Art Deco Building
The owners were Guiness beer company and I caught them the crisis of 1929
It is currently an office building
You can visit only the Lobby and enter an elevator but you can not get on any floor. From Monday to Friday, weekends are closed. Recommended if you pass through the area that is very central

This building was one of the points of interest for us on our recent trip to Canada (early May 2023). Unfortunately, although the offices located in the building are open and functioning, the building itself and its wonderful interiors are obscured under the scaffolding and cover sheets. Disappointed.

With so many new highrise buildings going up in Downtown Vancouver you could be forgiven for missing this architectural gem. In fact we nearly did but we were drawn by the impressive entrance (see photo) containing such intricate detail. Once there we read the informative plaque and then went inside to be greeted by a most impressive Art Deco interior.
Completed just before major recession hit there is so much impressive detail inside the building including the airy windows and the lifts. We spent a pleasant 20 minutes or so looking around and there is no charge so why not have a look? A pleasant oasis of Old Vancouver amidst so much of the new!

Located near the Waterfront Station this is a stunning piece of architecture. You can go in to look around and take the elevator to the 2nd floor for an overhead view. There is a really nice restaurant in the building as well, called Nightingale, entrance from around the corner.

An Art Deco gem. I had no idea such an architectural beauty could be found in Vancouver. Go inside the lobby to see some glorious Art Deco metalwork, tiles, stained glass and more. The dumbwaiter with the octopus motif was my favourite.

This building is so beautiful inside - the stained glass, the art deco architecture. It's always so pleasing to see something of this calibre saved from the wrecking ball, in cities where there are so many modern high rises. You must stop in and admire it !!

Art Deco building not to be missed, despite the scaffolding of the facade. Very nice entrance doors as well as the lobby with its elevator doors and copper ventilation grilles. A little New York air
