Stanley Park is Vancouver's premier spot to get up close and personal with nature and animals. The grassy expanse offers outdoor teahouses and stunning views, beachfront hideaways and splash parks. It is a typical getaway spot for friends and families, especially as it is home to Vancouver's aquarium, and some of its best equestrian outlets.

Enjoy a brisk morning run or walk, all the way to Stanley Park.
Starting around 10am more and more visitors Would come, some with pets, baby strollers so if you prefer a quiet morning to yourself, better go early or during the weekdays.
Lovely scenery and impressive clean and fresh environment.

As I am merely a walker, and now a slow one at that, I tend to stay on the eastern portion, and leave the north and western portions to the more adventurous. However, still lots to see on the one hour walk from the bus loop near Lumbermans' Arch to the main entrance. Enjoy a split path, segregated for walkers and hikers on one side, bikes and roller bladers on the other. Stop at one of the many benches along the way, and make like you are enjoying the view, rather than catching your breath. Note the public restrooms spotted here and there. However, one small drawback - this is so popular and close to town, you may have to share with others. I try and get there well before (or after) the lunch crowd out for a quick jog. Still, wonderful at any time.

On a recent trip to Vancouver we walked along English Bay and part of the sea wall. The overcrowding and smell of marijuana was so overwhelming the we decided to cut our walk short. You can’t smoke cigarettes in the park, this should also apply to marijuana. We’ve always enjoyed that area unfortunately its becoming full of homeless people, garbage in general dirty and unappealing. Shame on Vancouver for letting it get to this state.

This was so good that we did it twice! You can rent some bikes and go around in under 1 hour, or stops many times along the way and enjoy the views.
We travel at the end of August and during the week there was almost no people on the paths. Lots of opportunities for great pictures.
If you are biking remember the bike path is one-way, make sure you are not "that" person going the opposite direction.

The wall itself is nothing to admire, but it's geographic boundaries defines so much beautiful nature. Ocean, beaches, forrests, inlets, mountain views and city views, it's all here to enjoy. Walking, jogging, biking or any mode of transportation is great to enjoy these areas of the seawall.

The walk can be bracing due to the direction of the wind and is always flat. However, if you want to cut it short then there are sufficient signposts to guide you to a more direct / shorter route. Plenty of toilets too.

Great views on the walk along the sea wall. There are a lot of cyclists, but they have their own lane. No collisions while we were there!
You can see the water and city views on one side and forests of Stanley Park on the other.
We walked some of the path. Also, the horse driven carriage drove a portion of the seawall.

Whilst on holiday from the UK, I ran round the perimeter of Stanley Park taking in the entire length of the seawall and loved every minute of it. The views from the seawall are something I will never forget, absolutely beautiful. As is the park itself.

Beautiful walking and biking path that goes around Stanley Park. We only did a small section and got beautiful views of the city and into the harbor. We saw birds, harbor seals, and sea planes taking off. Would love to explore more of this park, maybe by bike next time.

Probably once of the best things we did was rent bikes and go along the sea wall. A really non exerting trip but lovely to get some fresh air and see the site. Would recommend doing it. Probably takes about 1hr - 1.5hrs to do if you go at a leisurely pace and stop to take pics

I will be in Vancouver for the entire month of February. Is it too cold to bike the sea wall at that time of the year?

Doesn't look like it the way the weather's going now these days

Will be in Vancouver on Monday the 25th of February...is it possible to bike around the seawall this time of year? What are the conditions like? Where is the best place to rent bikes?
Alternatively, if this option is not possible what other activities do you recommend in downtown Vancouver? Is there anywhere with good fish sandwiches that aren't too expensive?
Thanks in advance

It is usually fine to ride around the seawall, Because of the snow that has happened this winter play it by ear. There are lots of places to rent bikes. We rented on Denman St.
Good fish sandwiches in Granville Market. It is also a fun place to visit.
Other places to visit. Gastown, all along the water around Canada Place. Commercial Drive, UBC.
I hope you have a great time.

Well it could still be pretty frosty on the 25th! Right now forecast says 28 after sunrise and only getting up to the mid to upper 30's which is kind of cold in my book for biking weather.
But if dressed for the outdoors there are plenty of things to do. Maybe a farmer's market or flea market. Museums are a great indoors get away and are worth the price of admission! And there is ice skating in Robson Square.
As far as good fish sandwiches, there is Go Fish, not far from Granville Island and down on Granville Island there is a good food truck called The Kaboom Box that does a good salmon sandwich as well as a tasty crab sandwich as well. Granville Island is a great place to spend a few hours browsing shops and art galleries, there is a good public market on the wharf there, too.
Have fun and dress warmly!

Hi, we are travelling to Vancouver in 2 days time and staying for 4 nights. One thing on our list is a bike ride along Vancouver Seawall. Did you just hire the bikes and went by yourself or did you do the organised bike tour?
I’m not really a fan of organised tours and would prefer just to hire and go at our own pace unless there is a good reason to go with a guide. Where did you hire from?
Written July 2, 2018
You can rent bikes at various locations on the Coal Harbour side of the wall and tour around the park at your leisure - no need to book a guided tour! Enjoy your time in our lovely city!

My husband and I will be thankful over July 4-7 ,Any suggestion to stay and where to visit?
Written April 3, 2018
I go for the more reasonably priced hotel with a view or in an interesting area.
Lonsdale Quay Hotel in NorthVancouver near the Seabus Terminal,
Sylvia Hotel on English Bay
Gage Towers at UBC STUDENT
residences
There are also tons of B n Bs in Vancouver. BUT Don’t stay in cheap hotels in the East Hastings area as they are adjacent to skid row and you’ll be alternately horrified and grief stricken by the mass of 3000 or more fentanyl/opioid stricken folks.

Would it be too cold to have a walk in the park for period 27 March to 7 April?
Written January 19, 2018
I read that the bike trail is different from the walking path. is the walking path more scenic or is each path close enough that the view and experience is the same ?
Written October 13, 2017
No, they are the same path, just cyclists have to stay on one side and pedestrians on the other, for safety.
