Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice...

Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice the basics of photography, and get out of the automatic setting on your camera! In two hours, we cover exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, composition and basic portraiture. You are guaranteed to have a ton of FUN! Lead by a professional photographer, you are given tools, and an opportunity to explore a scenic area (Stanley Park, Canada Place, Chinatown, Gastown, Strathcona and Granville Island) with your camera, and given small learning objectives. Introductory classes are offered during the day, and more intermediate low-light classes in the evening.

As it turned out, I was the only one in the group and so I had the undivided attention from Barbara Tili, the Photographer/Tour leader. I have become a lazy photographer in recent years, not using my camera to its full capability. Barbara gave me a 10-minute refresher course in Aperture Priority/Shutter Speed Priority and away we went to the... More

We had only 1 night in Vancouver after our Alaskan Holiday and wanted to make the most of it.....we certainly did. We had booked a private photo walk with Suzanne and was so happy we did. We were met at the scheduled time by Suzanne, she is a true professional who is warm and engaging. I had my DSLR and... More

We booked a Canada Place Photowalk and met the lovely Barbara at the location. Although we booked the Canada Place option (it was the only one on offer that day), as we were the only two participants Barbara tailored the walk to our needs. In fact, we went much further afield than Canada Place and she shared with us her... More

As a local Vancouverite, I registered for the Stanley Park Photo Walk in order to become acquainted with my new DSLR while seeing one of the most beautiful parts of the city. The tour exceeded all of my expectations! Suzanne, my tour guide, was knowledgeable, patient and approachable. She explained some of the fundamental theory of photography including ISO, shutter... We (my husband and myself) booked a tour with Vancouver photo walks, both for the tour, but mainly for guidance on our new camera. After visiting with Suzanne, she understood what our goals were. We did tour Strathcona, but the emphasis was on how to use the camera (we were quite lucky to be the only people on this tour,... More

We went on a wonderful Photowalk at the height of cherry blossom blooms. The guide was knowledgeable, patient and friendly, the tips we picked up were valuable and we got to explore Stanley Park to boot. I recommend this highly! You'll learn and see a lot and you'll become a better photographer.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
