Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice...

Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice the basics of photography, and get out of the automatic setting on your camera! In two hours, we cover exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, composition and basic portraiture. You are guaranteed to have a ton of FUN! Lead by a professional photographer, you are given tools, and an opportunity to explore a scenic area (Stanley Park, Canada Place, Chinatown, Gastown, Strathcona and Granville Island) with your camera, and given small learning objectives. Introductory classes are offered during the day, and more intermediate low-light classes in the evening.

I did the Granville Island tour with my friend. Ricardo was a great guide. Giving us valuable information and showing us some great spots to take pictures. I had a fun night, would highly recommend the tour for people of all levels. Don't forget your gloves in winter though (haha), it can get cold on the water.

My 13 yo daughter got a good camera in the summer and was interested in learning new techniques so I got her a tour for her birthday. We braved the cold and wet to learn just a ton about photography techniques (it turns out my cel phone camera offers a lot of control.) Isobel, our guide, was really knowledgeable and... More

Enjoyed the photo walk! I learned that my little point-and-shoot camera has 90% of the functionality of a full-on DLSR! Barbara our guide was able to figure it out and show me.

Great experience. Suzanne was very helpful in teaching shortcuts on my camera and being more creative in my photos. The 2 hours went quickly, and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys photography and wants to learn more.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
