We had a corporate evening event (holiday party) here and the venue, food and staff are wonderful. The service is attentive without being overbearing and the venue is beautiful and well-maintained. Heartily recommend if there is a party in your future

This venue can obviously handle the largest of conventions and meetings. It covers 3 blocks and is so large. It is right on the waterfront and there are good views from the walkways.

It depends on your hotel in Richmond. I usually budget about $40.00 taxi fare from downtown Vancouver to the airport. The skytrain is much cheaper and probably faster depending on traffic.

When weather is good, it is nice to walk outside and it feels safe. If you really want to stay close to the event, you may consider the Pan Pacific Vancouver that is in the same East Building of Vancouver Convention Center... More

Picking A Location To Stay (13 Replies)
I will be in Vancouver for about 6 nights in early December for a conference. I've been looking to visit Vancouver for many years and I'm really looking forward to seeing all that the city has to offer. I'm noticing a huge difference in prices for hotels and I'm just looking for some advice. The bulk of the meetings will be held at the Vancouver convention centre. My question is would I have to stay downtown to make it a reasonable commute? I gather the convention centre is downtown so...More

If I was less inclined to stay at a hostel type place, how is someplace like the Comfort Inn? Reviews seem solid, it's a short walk to the convention centre, and it's priced about the same price as the place you mentioned. Basically I'm looking to get a good deal, but I'm not above blowing the budget if I can have a great stay (might be my only one). I generally hate Comfort Inns so not sure how this one ranks. A typical stay for me would be at a Mariott or Radison, not super fancy but...More

Is the Convention Centre open to the public during G20? (4 Replies)
I live in Markham, Ontario and I was wondering if the Metro Convention Centre would be open to the public during the G20 meetings? Really would like to catch a glimpse of Obama.

Seriously?? You'd have to penetrate 2 lines of 10 foot high security fences to even get outside it on the street. Stick to CBC.

Lululemon Half Marathon- Tips and Travel Advice for August (5 Replies)
Hi there, A few friends and I are travelling from Minneapolis for the SeaWheeze Half Marathon. Super excited to visit as I've only heard great things about both the half and the city. I was hoping we could get some tips on lodging, though. We were thinking about doing a VRBO vacation rental to keep prices cheaper. Has anyone had any good experience with any relatively inexpensive rentals in good areas? What would the good areas to stay at be? The race starts and ends at the Vancouver...More

Transit is very good in Vancouver. A bigger issue for you may be finding someone who will rent to a group of young people. Do you have a budget? How many of you are there? You might look at some of the suite hotels..I think you'd want to stay downtown, westend, coal harbor, yaletwon are all areas where you can find vrbo rentals. Look at Sandman suites, Times Square suites, Rosellen Suites.. all in good locations.
