We stopped by here before boarding our cruise ship. Worth visiting to see all the lovely timberwork. We couldn't walk around inside due to a mega private event being held there but outside is the Olympic Torch, Lego Orca and a giant raindrop.

The Vancouver Convention Centre anchors the city’s Business Events credentials and forms the nucleus of Canada Place, a massive campus-like development, picturesquely situated along the waterfront in the downtown area. Significantly enlarged and expanded for the 2010 winter games, the Convention Centre now offers 43,340 sqm (466,500 sqf) of meetings and exhibition space and 868 guest rooms at the fully... More

Not only was the Convention Center itself quite the attraction, but so was the plaza (Jack Poole Plaza) outside the building. The Convention Center was hosting a conference of cartoon characters (people dressed in costume) while we were there, so there was no shortage of superheroes in the area. The facility is relatively new (or appears to be so); huge,... More

East Convention Centre otherwise known as Canada Place has a few Totem Poles and a lovely design on the floor. From inside and outside the building it looks like a cruise ship with its standout sails. West Convention Centre has a grassy top and has "the Drop" on one side and Jack Poole Plaza on the other with a Digital... More

I decided to take a little detour while I was walking the seawall and strolled through to see what was going on inside. There's more happening here than just conferences. For example, in the summer they have complimentary yoga outside in the adjacent Jack Poole plaza. Check their website to see their calendar of events. Oh yes and the building... More

We were in Vancouver on holiday and happened to hear about an occasional guided tour of the Convention Centre, which we booked on. Apart from a minor issue where we didn't receive confirmation from our tour booking, the rest of the experience was excellent. The one-hour tour was informative and fascinating. Such a feat of modern construction, with a nautical... More

It's both an architectural wonder with its fancy green roof and an imposing building jetting out from downtown Vancouver much like the nearby Canada Place. I went here as part of Seawheeze and the security and organization of the event was quite good. The facilities inside the hall are well kept as well.

We went to the convention center the night the Rio Olympics opened simply to see the Olympic flame; large modern convention center with lots of activities nearby. The Olympic flame is on the plaza right next to the convention center.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
