Can't really say too much about this place, it's residential, established, few shops, malls, restaurants etc, doesn't hold the panache that the old musical about the pseudo Shakespearean family feud tuned gang warfare tale has. No Jets or Sharks, I wouldn't even call it a Blue collar neighbourhood to be honest. Go here, go out, you're not missing much, MEH.

Welcome to multi-millionaire land. No property you'll see on your tour is worth less than a million, and most will be 2 or more. The West Side is the number one family neighbourhood in the world, I would expect, where the world's rich want to have property, either to live on or to invest in. I won't go into the... More

This is so charming. Our hotel was in this area, and is within walking to the beach or to daily shopping. Clean, quite and safe. Is on the city bus system, so no car is needed. Mostly condos, apartments and small hotels. Lots of nice gardens, and places to eat. I loved it and suspect it is in the higher... More

From Kitsilano all the way out to UBC, the Point Grey area exudes wealth, not outrageous wealth but solidly comfortable wealth. The trees are lovely; a good many of the houses are, too. Then there is UBC. The buildings are a mish-mash, but the grounds are well-kept, and the view of the North Shore mountains is splendid. And don't forget the... More

We stayed at the West side and walked to different places. We used public transportation with a lot of options. The best option will be bicycle throughout

Vancouver's West Side is guilty of so much hubris but it still has some charm and a great deal of life for the bargain hunters among its residents. Therefore, surprises for the visitor. Quite lovely even on a rainy day.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
