Beautiful Beach

Beautiful beach with many activities. The views of the water are nice. Swimming is great and the water is not too cool.

I was so surprised to find this wonderful beach so close to downtown Vancouver . Easily accessible a walk or bus service. Loved all the great tree trunks that are laid on the beach for you to sit on lean against or shelter from sea breezes.so much more fun than rows of deckchairs. This beach also has the longest outside... More

There's something here for everyone, sailing, surfing, paddle boards, a huge swimming pool, mountains, sailboats, freighters, a dozen tennis courts, lots of sunbathing space, a sandy beach with logs.

Provides a nice place to relax and chill. Like all the beaches in Vancouver it is pretty busy, but nice regardless.

We loved this area away from the city lights and would have liked to stay here. We enjoyed walking along the beach and through the streets, had lunch in a nice little cafe

I guess in those days when the weather permits, not too many I guess, the locals in Vancouver come to their beach to enjoy the Sun and the Ocean. It's just a little stroll from downtown.

As soon as the sun comes out (even in winter), the dedicated players are out to play beach volleyball. Also, there is a playground nearby for the kids, and a basketball court and grassy area for those who don't play beach volleyball.

Kits Beach is a wonderful recreation area and the expansive beach looks out to sea and West Vancouver. Swim or just sit and contemplate. Nearby is a fabulous public swimming pool and the vicinity abounds with nice places to eat and drink. Good toilet and change facilities. A good start point for a nice walk around to Granville Island.

We wanted tp see more of the local flavor, so we caught a bus over to Kits Beach on a warm summer day. The place was packed and hopping. Plenty to do and see, and fun to watch. May be too crowded for some.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
