We hung out at Kits Beach while waiting for our show to begin at the nearby Bard on the Beach. The trees in the large grassy section are very tall and provide lots of shady spots to plunk down a blanket or a towel. I was also impressed with the number of benches placed along the asphalt walk ways providing... More

Such a pretty place to spend the afternoon. You can go into the salt water pool if you like, or you could just put your towel on the beach. The view is to die for, so wide and open, the mountains coming down to the sea. There is a concession stand so you can get cold drinks and snacks. We... More

Great place to just sit and read, or walk. Lots of parks with grass if you don't want to be on the water, but still have the beautiful view. It's easy to get to the beach on many residential areas around the beach and a few short blocks from restaurants and shops.

My husband and I make a point to head here every time we visit Vancouver (and we are moving to Vancouver soon and have plans to head to this beach as often as possible). It's full of logs and dogs racing all over the place. It's a fun place to hang out. Almost every time we go I end up... More

This is a very long and deep beach with large logs placed to serve as wind barriers if you decide to sit for a spell. When the tide is out, one may walk out and look for creatures in the pools. The wate is too cold for swimming, but it is fine for wading. There is a large salt water... More

Apparently the diving is good around here! There are some good people watching, but do not expect a gorgeous beach! May be a good place to take a date or read a book.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighborhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
