Lovely inside, pity the outside was under renovation. It's not overly big but the roof is old cedar and just beautiful!

We noticed that the doors were opened and wanted to see the church interior. A congregation member came over to us and offered to give us a short history of the church and an explanation of the "Raise the Roof" campaign for a belfry and bells. A local also explained how she had made a "square" for a textile installation... More

I live in Vancouver and have done since 1986. This church recently went through a multi million dollar roof renovation. Over the past thirty years this Georgia and Burrard right in the center of Downtown Vancouver church has slowly but surely been all but swallowed up by the corporate office towers. Located across from the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver until New... More

Architecturally, Vancouver has a lot to offer the visitor, including this cathedral, though a cathedral back in the old days was the first thing people would see in the distance as they approached a city, they would see the spire and say 'We're nearly there' Nowadays, whilst approaching Vancouver from the outside, you would be hard pressed to spot it,... Our friend recently was ordained as a priest there. Quite the pomp and ceremony spectacle but very beautiful all the same.

Loved the sung compline service on Sunday evening. Beautiful cathedral in lovely setting. We were there following a cruise in 2006 so I hope they are still upholding the tradition

I will have to say that I am a Church "fanatic" when it comes to Architecture.... This Church is great and has just undergone, and is still in the process of a new roof.....not just shingles...the whole ROOF!! What an undertaking.... Gregorian Chant services start again of February 7th, 9:30 PM....a great 'recharge' for the week!

We were married in Christ Church Cathedral in 1973, as were my parents in 1949. We try to visit whenever we come to Vancouver. It seems such a small place now with all the tall buildings crowding in over it, this old stone building holding its own amongst all the modern glass and steel. When you go inside, the world... This is a very beautiful church, very forward thinking and holds political debates and is community minded. It has a beauty and warmth that was attractive and wonderful. So well maintained clean as well worth a visit.

Christ Church Cathedral is at one of Vancouver's busiest intersections. It is a small stone cathedral towered by the Hotel Vancouver, Park Place, the Fairmont Hotel and the Bental Centre. That's probably why I find it so attractively charming. Its scale reminds me of the time when this Church was in the centre of a residential community in a growing... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
