If you love dumplings and discovering hidden gems, you’ll love Richmond's Dumpling Trail Tour (by VFT). Our gracious and knowledgeable host, Cassandra, kicked-off the tour with the most delicious Chinese buns and vegetarian gyoza imaginable. Afterward, we took a short walk (a chance to work off a few carbs) to several nearby restaurants while Cassandra shared stories of the area. We were warmly greeted at each restaurant and, best of all, Cassandra described every dish, demystifying any unfamiliar offerings. Navigating Richmond’s restaurant scene and Public Market can be daunting but now I know where to bring visiting friends. Our food-loving group had a fabulous time! It was worth every calorie!

I was with a group of ladies I knew, and we had such an enjoyable experience. Cassandra was a WONDERFUL guide – she shared lots of knowledge and extra bits told in between spots and bites. At each stop she told us a bit about the place, its ownership and other things we could try when we return. At each stop we had a snapshot of one of their top food items. Richmond is known for its dumplings so of course this tour featured those. Everything was close enough together that the walking was not at all difficult. I speak English only, so one thing for sure that made this guided adventure worthwhile is that in Richmond most signs and menus are not in English. Having a guide with relationships at each place and the ability to relay each stop's stories with us in English made the experience so much richer than it would have been solo. The food was delicious at each stop and the advice is the arrive hungry and with stretchy pants! Highly recommended. We will be sure to tell our friends about the experience and I hope to do it again and bring some foodie friends.

I love exploring local when food + drink are on the menu & VFT hit a home run with their destination selections and knowledgeable tour host, Cassandra. I was visiting Vancouver for the weekend, had a girlfriend from grade school meet up with me and we were so excited to build a weekend around finding hidden gem places to indulge, through VFT. The tour began at an easy to find location! We visited many restaurants, learned of the Gastown District history and loved seeing the steam whistle clock. The Food and Drinks were perfect! LOVE the middle eastern dish that started our adventure and filled out bellies ... yummy yum yum! The next was a super fun and very trendy jazz bar where the piano music was fun, the food delish and the Whiskey Sour was AMAZING! Loved the vibe, could have sat there for hours. P.S. the other guests in our group were great company, had a ton of fun with our group and guide! Next was an upscale tasting bar where the wine pairings with meats and cheeses were delish, perfectly paired and hit the spot on the elevated level. Last but absolutely not least was the beer tasting flight and pairings at a local Irish Pub that clearly was a trendy place were people meet, it was packed and they didn't miss a beat in taking care of our group and guiding us through our flight. I love beer, so this was a perfect ending for me. VFT, your selections and care were awesome, Cassandra was the best and we felt a fabric of the community, right down to the last sip! Thank you, thank you!

We were on a trip of Canada, in which we thought a food trip of Vancouver would fit perfectly, and thus we were looking forward to it. We were supposed to be picked from the hotel, which we were, but not by the guide but by the owner, so far not an issue. However as we started on our food tour, we all got the feeling that they´d actually forgotten about us and quickly made arrangements in order not to loose the business / our money. First of all, the guide / owner wasn't´t really interested in showing us around it seemed to me that he was in a hurry to finish up and go home. The food / alcohol pairing didn't match at all, plus the food that we received was really nothing special at all, if not to say laughable. (please see the pictures attached) After we complained he wasn't´t amused. Things happen, people forget, it can happen too anyone, but then own up to the mistake and cancel the tour rather than do a tour which is terrible. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this tour. The only good thing we got out of it was a great dinner recommendation.

Hi wallyspain, Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. It is extremely unfortunate that you feel this way, and I am wholeheartedly sorry for your 'not great experience' in Vancouver. My goal is always to make my guests feel special and welcomed, like I would treat my friends visiting the city. I thought that I did that with you and your family; I really was trying. Your review is very personal for me, as I am the owner and the guide that led your group. I feel like I need to explain myself and answer to your harsh criticism. Your tour was booked months in advance and was not last minute as you infer in your comments. Your original guide called in sick and was not able to lead a tour, and I felt it was not appropriate to cancel the tour at such a last minute, not for lost business or money, but out of respect for you, my guests. Your demeanour when we first met was of upset and confusion, presumably because of the guide change, but it did feel like I was walking into a family squabble. When we got to the first location, I learned about two new dietary restrictions; one guest didn't drink alcohol and one guest was allergic to shellfish. This is highly important on a food tour, and dealing with restaurants to make last minute changes can take up a considerable amount of the guide's time. The locations that we visited on your tour are amazing and get wonderful reviews and comments from our guests, and I have never had anyone describe them as 'laughable'. I realize that we cannot please everyone, but I can't help but think that you were expecting something else; perhaps because this tour was booked by your travel agent. I can't apologize enough for not managing your expectations properly. Now, a little venting of my own....Your squabbling was incessant and I believe it marred your tour experience, not allowing you to have a good time, no matter what was put in front of you. Your father seemed unbelievable agitated when I stated that I didn't have any experience with Sonora Ranch, almost disgusted that a tour guide didn't know about the fishing camp. Well, I know now :) This incident has changed the way our company handles last minute guide cancellations, as well as our cancelation policy with respect to last minute changes to tours. But we will always put our guests needs first! When you made the complaint the day after the tour, I offered you a refund, yet you didn't accept the refund and still sent in a 'bad review'. I promise you we have learned from this experience and have since strived to provide an even better tour experience for our guests. Thank you for mentioning the dinner reservations, as I did recommend and make those reservations for you. It was just one of the many things I did to try and make you and your family happy, including hailing a taxi for you. #bestfoodtour2020
