English bay is the focal point of vancouver and the nucleus that connects city, with forest, mountains, beach and ocean. Look out and you may see a pod of Orcas cruising the waters or catch some rays at any number of beaches ( my favourites are 3rd beach in Stanley Park, Kitsilano and Spanish Banks). Definitely check out the festival... More

We stayed at English Bay and was not disappointed. Only a short walk into the Vancouver city and right on the beach front and near the Sea Wall and Stanley Park.

Enjoyed the walk around the Bay and having snacks at the restaurants. Though it was too cold as of snow but definitely exciting in summer. Looking forward to cycling and water sports if any.

English Bay. A block from the Best Western Plus Sands Hotel on Davie Street. A beautiful view and relaxing walk along the waterfront to begin the day with a morning walk with coffee OR a great way to end the day with a relaxing waterfront walk to unwind and enjoy a sunset. Very nice area of Vancouver.

Beautiful area of Vancouver. Take long walks along the magical seawall but expect it to be quite busy in the summer months. You can also swim right there at English Bay in the cool waters around July & August. Jog or bike your way. Keep in mind pedestrians have the right-of-way in this gorgeous but expensive city.

Definitely worth the walk down Denman St. A much more calm and quaint look and feel than the rest of downtown. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby to grab a coffee or a snack.

Stopped here to catch a few Pokemon, see the sights and take some pictures. We came after dinner and it was very cold and windy, otherwise we would have walked around a little longer. Plent of benches, good bike/running/walking paths and varying art to see. I could only imagine it being that much better on a waem day or night.... More

What can I say about Stanley Park that has not already been said. To me it is an oasis in the constant thrum of the city. You can choose to walk the seawall or stroll the paths and enjoy a variety of flowers and gardens depending on the time of year. There are ponds with beautiful Swans,Ducks aand Geese. If... More

My husband and I stumbled on the English Bay and I was so surprised to see shells so I went searching and found such great treasures!

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
