Just a few minute walk from the cruise terminal stands the Olympic torch. From a distance it looks like it’s covered in silver foil. Get closer and you can see it’s actually made from glass. It must have been spectacular when it was lit. Sadly we only visited during the day and didn’t experience it lit up at night. Surrounded by shops and restaurants.

It was neat to see the Olympic cauldron (or torch). We went at night and it was lit up in red and the following night it was lit in blue. It's definitely large, has a nice plaza to walk around it and looks pretty against the waterfront. I can imagine it would be pretty neat to see if it was lit with flames. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

The cauldron is a unique and interesting sight if you happen to be in the neighborhood. However, it is best viewed when illuminated at night. Don't expect any flames out of this cauldron as the Olympic flame is traditionally lit in the host city only while the games are ongoing.

I'm giving this sight a less than average rating largely because there doesn't appear to be any informational signage in the plaza noting its cultural and historic significance. I read later that there is a display of Olympic medals and a podium in one of the adjacent buildings. I wish that had been apparent upon my visit.

Nevertheless, it's a lovely plaza adjacent to the Vancouver Convention Center with the mountains opposite Vancouver Harbour as a fabulous backdrop on a clear day. Nearby is the Digital Orca sculpture as well as the Vancouver Harbour Flight Center & Seaplane Terminal. So, this is a great spot from which to watch the seaplanes land and take off on the water.

Wandering around the harbor it's easy to locate the Olympic Cauldron and it's a large monument, glad they kept it after the games and it's on show to everyone

Came across this by accident as we were touring around the city.
I would like to have seen is with the flame burning, or at night I believe it gets lit up with neon lights.

But still quite a sight.

The cauldron is sitting in the middle of the plaza with a small plaque that describes it. Wish there was a little more history to point out some of the history of the 2010 Olympics.

The Olympic Cauldron is located next to Canada Place on the waterfront, near plenty of nice restaurants and shopping stores. It is nice to see but nothing to stare at for more than a few seconds. Now, if it were lit up at night, then it would be a much better attraction.

While no longer burning, the Olympic Cauldron from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, located on the waterfront, on the west side of the convention center and very near the seaplane and cruise ship terminals, still serves as an interesting glass sculpture especially when viewed from the waterfront with the modern, high-rise glass buildings behind it. If you are lucky enough to be in the area at night, the glass “arms” of the cauldron, made to resemble ice, are illuminated with blue lights.

The Cauldron which burned during the 2010 Winter Olympic games and is now lit for special ocassions would interest sports buffs but the real attraction is the scenic background of mountains Coal harbour and Stanley Park. The torch is permanently installed in Jack Pool Plaza near Vancouver's spectacular Convention Centre and Canada Place with it's Cruise Ship Terminal. There are several good restaurants off the plaza.
