I got lucky with conditions, steady snow the week before the cat day, but even without that, the guides and terrain were ridiculously good! Carey and Andrew were putting us in the goods all day. And Lauren took pics I'll be using for months if...More
Myself and two friends booked a day with Big Red Cats on March 14, 2019. We were a bit reluctant that they’d be able to fulfill our desires to ride steep, deep, challenging, and playful terrain and unfortunately that proved to be true. Our cat...More

Very glad that the guide was able to find safe and decent skiing on the 4th-last day of the season, with all of the warming that was going on. I know it was a very challenging time for the guides during that warming period, and...More
I got into a last minute group thanks to Paula’s efforts & constant communication with me to fit me in, so I want to thank her for that.
My two guides (Garrett & Ben) were very good and seemed well trained and prepared so no...More

Kieren and Paula are amazing hosts, have an incredible team and provide an amazing back country experience. We had the pleasure of touring the back country with Kieren and Oscar as our guides. They know the mountain intimately and guided us to untouched stashes with...More
We did 4 days at Big Red Cats this Feb/March and it was phenomenal. While Red Mountain got 50 cms in the 4 days the BRC tenure got over 100. Safety was paramount but suited for the occasion. Guides were awesome, friendly and well trained....More
The guides were great, the terrain we hit was pretty good. I’ve cat skied and heli skied at other locations and as a comparison found the runs we took were challenging but not pucker-up challenging. The driver and guides do take their time to try...More

Glad you had fun; some days the guides do have to scale back if the avalanche hazard is high, but if you pick the "Uber" group there should at least be others who are capable of the more puckerworthy runs when stability is good
I was super impressed with the speedy email communication and enjoyed being kept up to date with the conditions as we approached our ski day. The morning 'round up' is quick and painless, the actual ski area is easy to get to and the guides...More
I had the same experience as nystrokedoc. When conditions are marginal a top notch outfitter like BRC has the expertise and experience to make the adjustments to systems changing what could have been a so-so Cat trip become top notch for the client crew. They...More
Amazing snow can be reached by the cats over nearly 20,000 acres of mountainous wilderness. The service by the guides is enthusiastic, competent, and delivered with care, a big smile, and an expression of "Welcome to my world of fun" attitude.
A truly awesome ski...More

It usually isn't possible to move people around much, so it is best to try to pick the right level to begin with. There is some overlap between levels, and some people do overestimate and underestimate ability, but there are detailed descriptions on the website.
I can't really tell people on the phone "oh, you SAY you're an expert, but I see that you're from the UK, so let's face it, you probably just THINK you are, so let's put you down as Advanced." I have to trust that people will evaluate themselves properly according to the descriptions and videos on the website. It sounds like you'd enjoy an Advanced/Expert group, but could also handle Expert. Your buddy might slow down an expert group, but could handle advanced/expert?
That particular Advanced group on the 25 and 26 of January doesn't look all that fast... I would be tempted to move you guys up.
Would you like me to try to create an Advanced/Expert group on those two
days, to reduce your risk? It could end up combined with Expert in the end, if the bookings don't flow in, but we could try it?
