Despite the poor snow this year, I was very impressed with the terrain at Red Mountain. Steep runs, lots of chutes and stashes, long runs and a vast mountain with a big vertical drop. All fixed grip lifts which adds to the charm and the ability to rest the legs before the next quad burner. Red is a hidden gem that I will be back to further explore!

Red Mountain is truly a hidden gem. I love that there are no lift lines and no crowds. We skied here for five days and had a blast! Fun tree skiing. My favorite tree runs were off of Motherlode and the Grey lift. We skied at least 15k feet each day even with the super slow lifts. If you are looking for a village type resort like Whistler, then go to Whistler. Red never disappoints.

Big mountain, with plenty of great terrain for all abilities. Yes the lifts are slow, very slow so dress warm. In area cat skiing was a great adventure for only 10 bucks.

The biggest West Coast 2-step, is selling snake oil as medicine! Land and Real Estate have become the 21st Century snake oil. Having a Resort with ZERO amenities, is akin to the charmer of the 19th Century. Hustled to buy inflated prices, unsuspecting “transplants” find themselves in a Culture/Food/Spa/ desert that has NOTHING for families and has minimal delivery to segregated AirBnB/ Second Home renters, packed together like sardines! Disney inspired Nature and a neglected ski culture lets the overcharged tourist know they have been CHEATED! Smallest ski season ...Largest lift price for the benefits!

We stayed here for 4 nights in July/August. It was in the middle of a heat wave 30-37 degree temps. We were a bit shocked that the unit had no A/C. Luckily, we spent most days out of the condo, and with all doors and windows open it cooled down enough at night to sleep. The slope side view would be amazing but for the parked ski resort equipment and dump trucks parked a eye level. We would also have liked a bbq but otherwise the space was comfortable and spacious.

We had 2 1/2 days of fabulous snow and skiing on this mountain. It was our first time here and we loved everything about it. The mountain is a quick 8 minutes from the town of Rossland. Parking is free and right at the base of the lodge. There are lockers outside, but everyone leaves their things in either the cubbies in the coffee shop or in the base lodge restaurant. They offer free tours of the mountain at 9am and 1 pm. My husband took the intermediate tour and I did the beginner tour with Sue. I highly recommend doing this first thing. The mountain is large and it was great to get insight on where to go and the best way to navigate the terrain. We ate at the Constella Clubhouse our first day- pretty little place and then the 2nd day at the Paradise Lodge. They are near each other and are accessed by the Paradise Lift. Even though the lifts are all slow, we still managed to get in a lot of vertical because we rarely waited in a line. Rafters after skiing for a drink and snack is also a must. Great vibe.
We rarely stay at the base of the mountain, but there are very few places to stay in Rossland. We will make an exception next time we visit.

Red grew on us. Early in the season, it seems difficult to ski in the trees, but if you stay for an entire season you learn so much about the mountain, the trees, the rocks, and you will end successfully skiing through tight trees. Highly recommend to take lessons at Fall Line, the resort´s ski school, they are excellent.

Huge terrain options. Good snow. No lift lines. Unique on-hill cabin culture.
A big part of my rating is also due to the excellent customer service. I was particularly impressed with the central reservations team who went above and beyond. Thanks!

This is one of my favorite ski haunts. When there's snow, and you're standing at the top of Paradise, looking down on the clouds and adjacent mountaintops, there is no better place to ski. The hill is relaxed, staff are friendly, and there is a nice mix of easy, intermediate and challenging runs: something for everyone! The little lodge at the top of the Paradise lift is charming, albeit a little small for the hordes of people trying to find a table for lunch. Planning to eat before 11 or after 1 is a better bet. The food's not bad, and reasonably priced. There's also a microwave available if you want to BYO.
Unfortunately, they don't make snow, and so they were already in Spring skiing mode when we visited in mid-February. Lower elevation runs were a mess, but there was still a lot of great terrain at the top. Regardless, we had a great day of skiing, and can't wait for our next ski trip to Red Mountain.

Hi guys,
Looking at somewhere different to ski this year. How long would you recommend staying at Red? Is it a place for a couple of days or could we be kept entertained for 2 weeks. Also visiting in January, how's the snow then ususally?
Thanks for any help

I am looking into Red Mountain for this ski season. I have seen quite a few comments about the groomers and there not being many. I am on carving skis so I love steep, open and wide groomers to carve my heart out on. Can anyone let me know how many slopes are groomed (it says on the resort's home page that there are 110 runs but am now wondering how many of those are actually groomed) and is the grooming good? I am also a more advanced skier so are there really good runs and long ones? What is the average length of the runs? Does anyone know what the average temp in winter is for the resort? I have also seen that the lifts are super slow - how long does it take on a chair and are there bubbles over any of the chairlifts to increase warmth? Final question - is there a supermarket in the two or do you have to go to Rossland to do shopping? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delayed response, been moving around. Truth be told, Red is really an off piste tree skiing paradise. There are not many groomed runs which is a blessing to some and not to others. For advanced skiers there are probably 10 legitimate groomers of varying length along with thousands of acres of bowls, glades and bumps to explore. More Jackson Hole, Arapaho, Alta/Snowbird than Big Sky, Park City, Deer Valley, Vail or Breckenridge. Great character on three conical mountains.

Rossignol brand ski rental models?
Do you allow skinning?
Written January 31, 2018
Hi. I brought my own equipment, so I didn’t look into what rental equipment they have. Best to check with the rental department. They have cat skiing there that may interest you too and it is really inexpensive. If you go have a great time.

We are planning snowboarding trip to Red Mountain Resort this winter. It is just my husband and me. I wonder is there are some shuttles from Rossland to the slopes. Also how is the resort for snow boarding.
Written August 24, 2017
yes there is a shuttle from rossland. great boarding there. be sure to take some 10 dollar bills and catch the sno cat to the other mountain. can't remember the name of it but whether it's open or not is posted at the top of each lift. best skiing in the mountain. best if you are advanced boarders.

We are considering a ski trip to Red this winter. Can you tell me if the resort has a pool, and also what the restaurant options are at the ski hill?
Thank you.
Written August 8, 2016
Restaurant options at the ski hill are limited. There was a new hotel under construction with a target date for next ski season. I did not see any place with a pool. Many had hot tubs.

Anyone know of a better deal on Red Mountain lift tickets other than in advance on their web site? Headed there next Friday just for the day.
Thanks!
Written March 10, 2016
Hi icuski2,
The best deal that you will find is through our website and the earlier you buy the bigger your discount. If you purchase 1 week in advance you will receive 15% off. Go to our website and click on "Mountain" and then "Day Tickets". Have a great day!

Hi Panatori,
Would like to hear more about Red Mountain. I've been asked to organise a ski trip to BC for a group of friend coming from various locations in the states and Europe. The group mix is few expert, most advance and a couple who are inexperienced off-piste but upper intermediates on-piste.
Specifically my question is therefore, is there sufficient variety to keep all satisfied for 10 days?
I'm drawn to Red Mountain, because it hasn't gone mainstream, high speed quads etc and also because of their Catskiing possibilities.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
David

Hi David,
Our terrain is definitely catered more towards advance and expert riders but upper level intermediates will love the challenge of the resort. For the intermediates you can lap the Paradise and Grey Chairs and get great tree runs right near groomers. For the experts and advanced riders, there is more terrain than you could ride in a lifetime. The north side of Granite and Grey are steep and deep, under the Motherlode Chairs offers drops and showboating terrain that will burn your legs, and gladed runs galore that will make you want to move to Rossland full-time.
Our snowpack right now is the best it has been in a long-time (even decades long locals are saying that) and the forecast looks favourable for the foreseeable future. I say come get it while it's good.
