Just returned from a 3 night, 4 day excursion into the Khutzyamateen with Daniel Wakeman of Sunchaser Tours. We were flown in by plane and we returned to Prince Rupert by boat. Along with Dan, there were 4 of us on the boat. I wanted to write a review for people considering this experience because despite the magnificent scenery there... More

Cruised the shoreline for a few hours on grizzly bear boat tour. Apparently one can also book time for a few days at a floating lodge moored off shore. Would be amazing. One is not allowed on shore which is perfect.

Fantastic experience. Whole day with Derek and Teresa and the bears. We were lucky to see Bella and her three cobs who were eating and swimming.

Enjoyed the orcas who performed all their amazing acrobatics, two different grizzly bears, both with triplet cubs, as well as lone bears and the freewheeling bald eagles en route back to town. Great day!

On our visit, we saw a variety of wildlife and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The wolf siting was the icing on the cake.

Wonderful trip on the boat to the sanctuary, got to see a couple of bears with the young cubs. My kids enjoyed it very much. It is worth the ride. It is a 7 hour boat ride both ways they do provide lunch on board.

Had a wonderful whole day visiting Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary got to see bears up close from the safety of a large boat run by a very professional crew who were knowledgeable and helpful answering all questions. Got to see bears in the wild who were not bothered by the boat (but keep the noise down) and you will hopefully... More

Did a half day bear tour with Jamie from khutz lodge. They fly you in and out via floatplane from Prince Rupert and you board a smaller boat at the lodge. This allows a really up close and personal encounter with the bears. The smaller boat also takes you higher up into the estuary than the bigger tour operators. Overall... More

Flew in via float plane from Prince Rupert with Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge - see my other review. This bear sanctuary is sancrosanct and must be protected whatever the cost.

I went on the Prince Rupert Adventure Tours boat and it was a wonderful trip - see my review of the boat trip. It is wonderful that the bears have a large - though far from sufficient - sanctuary in the Khutzeymateen, and that it is possible to see some of them even as they are granted dignity and respect....
