This boat ride was total Bucket List - a 7 hour sail through the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. Kinda like a whale watch - no guarantees you’ll see anything. If the wild show up, they show up. We were blessed with 11 Grizzlies, including a...More

This company, captain, and staff are top notch. The boat is well designed for viewing from inside, but don't let that stop you from going out on deck! Watching the pod of whales work together and create a bubble net to capture fish is amazing....More

Canadian Rockies - with a side order of bears and whales (10 Replies)
We are four adults planning a 2 week holiday in Canada next August/September. We will be flying in and out of Calgary. The rough plan is to spend about a week exploring areas around Jasper and a week driving north west - possibly to Stewart/Hyder and Prince Rupert - to try and view bears and whales. (We do know this is quite a long drive). I know there is a bear viewing platform near Stewart at Fish Creek so we plan to try that and possibly the Prince Rupert Adventure Tours for whale...More

It's a 5 hour drive from YYC to Jasper, stops extra. Are you deliberately ignoring Banff? You might consider 3 nights in Banff/LL area. One full day on the Icefields Parkway which should be savoured over 10 hours or so. You will want to break up the journey between Jasper and PR with a night in Prince George and Smithers. The same on the way back to Jasper. That makes 4 nights travelling out of your second week. Although I think the bears and whales would be worth doing, getting there by...More
