This museum is a definite must-visit for anyone visiting Prince George. There are many old buildings, trains, and equipment to explore with with strong connections to BCs rail and forestry history. There is a lot of space to socially distance and walk around exploring the trains and buildings. This would be a fantastic thing to take kids to as well as adults of all ages, especially anyone who is interested in BC history.

On our recent staycation to discover more about our province, we travelled to Prince George and visited this amazing museum. Our teenage son is obsessed about trains and this didn’t disappoint. He had researched the museum before we went and was so happy to see the BC electric train. I on the other hand was happy wi5 a geocache I found :) great visit and our son will probably want to volunteer when he’s older :)

We had a wonderful time walking around the various displays and structures at this museum. Due to Covid, some of the displays were locked up. But what we saw did provide us new insights in the railways that operated in the area. It was also "cool" to walk inside a beehive burner. What would make this museum better is if they could provide more stories of people who were involved in the building and running of the railways and those who worked long hours in the lumber industry. This was done to a certain extent with the Ukrainians who worked in the railway. My wife and I would want to see more of this.

Whether you are local or a tourist, this is a must see location. The train cars are laid out well and kept up... well worth the visit. And walking through the grounds you can see wildlife and get a feel for the history of the railway. Ride the narrow-gauge train - nobody is too young or old to ride it. Near Christmas, they have their spectacular light display and inside the buildings are all done up - they have a bon-fire going and inside the gift shop they have santa and Mrs. Clause.
