We have wanted to ride the KVR from Myra to Penticton for a long time, and booked the Penticton to Myra Canyon Shuttle with Hoodoo after reading the positive reviews on TA.
Hoodoo was an absolute pleasure to work with. Our email enquiries were promptly replied to, and Covid protocols were clear and reassuring.
We dropped by the afternoon before to size and adjust the rental bike, as the departure for Myra is at 7:00am, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Having prepared the day before, our departure was quick the day of the ride. Our driver, Corey, wore a mask as did we. We booked a non-private shuttle, and it turned out to be just the 2 of us, but we would have felt safe if others joined us. Corey got us to Myra in about an hour and a half and gave us a history of the KVR along the way.
We would not hesitate to recommend Hoodoo whatsoever. The staff truly care about the customers needs and comfort, and were very accommodating. They were totally up front about the degree of difficulty of the ride.
Our take on the ride, is that the first 12km's is an easy smooth ride with spectacular scenery. In the middle until just before Little Tunnel, there is a lot of rough trail. You definitely need wide tires, and front suspension is preferable. The rental bike was perfect. You really have to keep your eyes on the trail for the many rocks half buried and deep sand in the lengthy rough stretches or you will get tossed. The motorized vehicles that share most of the trail/road are chewing it up badly, and there does not appear to be much if any maintenance, other than at either end of the 80km ride. We rode on a perfect dry day, with no puddles on the trail at all. It took us about 6 hours, with a great half hour lunch stop at Chute Lake lodge. (the burger was excellent).
We are really glad we did the ride, and feel lucky to have had the perfect day. It is not a strenuous trip, but expect the rough ride. Because of the rough ride, it is wise to bring some bike tools, spare tube , and ensure your bike is mechanically sound beforehand. The bike does take a bit of a beating.Hoodoo provided a repair kit for the rental.
The scenery is beautiful, especially the Myra section, and Little Tunnel to Penticton.
If a more casual ride is your thing, ride both ends and skip the middle part, otherwise don't miss out on this amazing adventure.

We booked a shuttle from Penticton to Chute Lake to ride the KVR back to Penticton. Great customer service from the time we emailed to inquire and book the shuttle, to the drive to Chute Lake. Our driver was fun and informative.
The only regret we had was in not having breakfast at Chute Lake Lodge, the food looked delicious!

We took the HooDoo Shuttle to Myra and biked the KVR, over 2 days back to Penticton, overnighting at Chute Lake Lodge.
HooDoo offered the Shuttle services. Timely, safe, friendly, service.
This was our third time with HooDoo and we plan to make this an annual trip.
Great Work HooDoo team.

We rented bikes and road the Kettle Valley Trail. Customer service was excellent when we got there and the girl was very knowledgeable. My husband's bike was good, but mine needed some servicing. Made it loud and hard to ride. Overall the company was great, i would just recommend servicing the hikes more often.

Worst customer service ever! Myself and 8 friends rented bikes to do the KVR Trail. Wrong bikes provided fo the trail, we had 4 flat tires and the tools provided on each bike were incorrect. The tube provided to change the flat was wrong. There is no place to park your car while you go on your trip and now you have Making you have to hustle to find a parking place which is expensive. They also did not tell us we had to make arrangements after the trip to go back to the hotel and we had to wait over one hour for a cab When we spoke with management they dismissed and indicated that the issue was because we need a tour guide. Really? We asked for the money back from the wrong ebikes provided and all they gave us was $100.00 credit for the next time we use their services which will be NEVER.

Firstly we are very regretful your day didn't go as planned. We have 15 years of providing bikes and shuttles for the people to enjoy the KVR we are passionate about it, so when peoples days are not great it really does sadden us.
We would have liked to have come to a compromise and we tried to discuss a result that would have worked for everyone. A 100% refund was demanded for the entire group. This is was unreasonable and we tried to discuss that.
2nd - We provided the correct bikes, they were the the bikes you rented. These same bikes go on the KVR almost every day without incident.
3rd. The tools were checked when the bikes left, and when they returned - they we're correct and working fine.
4th The tube was correct for the wheel - it had a different valve. There is a supply chain issue and is particularly bad in the cycling industry, some bike stores cannot even source or supply tubes. Fortunately our pumps fit both types of tube valves. If we let you down by not seeing this at the time and explaining it better in case you had a flat tire then we owe you an apology for that. The pump did fit both valves, we just needed a chance to explain or show you.
5 - If you arrive late for your shuttle or rental, yes you might have to hustle to park your car in time so as not to hold the rest of our customers and our staff up.
We don't have a large free carpark for you to enjoy at your leisure. We DO HAVE PLENTY OF FREE PARKING 1 or 2 minutes walk from us, But yes if your running late, you might need to hustle.
6. Let me get this right,,,, you are blaming us for not making arrangement for you to get back to your hotel? If we had known at any stage that you'd need help to get back to your hotel then we'd have been happy to do so. It's not included in our tour or anyone's tour that we know of but with some communication we could have helped. Also, we don't know why you needed a cab especially since you mentioned you had trouble parking your car 1 min walk away from our building earlier that morning.
7. We didn't dismiss your issues and say it was because you needed a guide. At the time you were very upset and not being reasonable at all. We simply stated that a guide is often a great option in circumstances like these, A guide will not only provide first aid and area knowledge but can be very valuable to a large group of people who don't often do long rides in the wilderness on rental bikes they are not familiar with. It was merely stated that a guide who knows how to use tools and knows how to use a modern pump correctly would have had the simple and very common repairs done quickly and had you seamlessly on your way.
We did not refund your money as your request was unreasonable. The bikes were suitable for the task at hand as evidenced by the literally hundreds of other customers who rented them without incident before and after you. Yes you got 2 flat tires, this can and does happen esp when 8 + people ride 80 + km along sharp rocks and gravel on bikes they are unfamiliar with.
The $100 credit was nothing more than a good will gesture. You were extremely unreasonable to deal with at the time, and this unfair and unbalanced rant of a review is testament to who we were dealing with.
You say you will never work with us again. That is probably best, we could do without the grief.

Fantastic morning kayaking with Hoodoo. Our man Joseph was super, super helpful accommodating and friendly - great guy!
Launched from the Marina Way beach with equipment and safety gear in great shape, received helpful direction as to kayak adjustments, etc and tips as to a good route for the time we had allotted.
Headed off past the breakwater, towards the bluffs to the east, past some of the wineries then stopped off for a swim at a secluded sandy beach about an (easy) hour paddle out.
Had more recommendations from Joseph upon our return for lunch spots, having worked up a healthy appetite - chose to go to Black Antler (bistro/pub) and was very happy with that. Great, friendly service there and food above what we expected.
An awesome morning, great value and will be back with friends. Nice work guys!

My wife and I spent a lovely week biking around the Naramata wine district. As part of our stay we eBiked the 80 km. from Myra Canyon to Penticton on the old KVR rail bed. Mike from HooDoo took us from Penticton to Myra Canyon. Along the way he was a terrific font of knowledge about the building and operation of the Railway. Made our trip much more enjoyable. Great service.
The Myra Canyon section of the journey is probably the best, with 18 trestles to enjoy and amazing scenery. Road down to Chute Lake a bit sketchy but easily passable. Lunch at Chute Lake was wonderful, especially as we were a bit wet from the rain and needed to dry out. No reservations needed for lunch. Views on the ride in to Penticton are amazing.
Highly recommend this bike ride.

My adult daughter and I rented mountain bikes from Hoodoo for two days: one day we biked 5 hours from Penticton along the KVR almost to Chute Lake and back to Penticton. The second day we went the opposite direction on the KVR along Skaha Lake to OK Falls. Cynthia provided outstanding customer service with maps, directions, winery/brewery stop suggestions, and fitted us with high quality, durable bikes, locks, pumps, spare tires, etc. All of the staff were extremely helpful, efficient, patient, and focused on providing the best and most professional service possible. Mountain biking was one of the highlights of our trip to Penticton thanks to Cynthia and the other awesome staff at Hoodoo!

With the help of the Hoodoo Adventure team ( Lindsey and Joseph), I organized a self-guided Kettle Valley Railroad Myra Canyon-Penticton trail ride for our group of 3 couples. Hoodoo Adventure provided us a shuttle from our Inn near Naramata directly to the trail head at Myra Canyon for us and our bikes. As far as I know, they are the only company in Penticton that can do this.
Lindsey and Joseph helped with all the details, scheduling etc and everything went perfectly.
The ride itself is 80 km long and took us about 6 hours including a lunch stop at Chute Lake ( highly recommended). It is mostly flat or downhill but parts of it were a bit of a grind in the sandy gravel. We rode our hardtail mountain bikes which were perfectly suited for the conditions. Since it's an old railtrail the uphill grades are limited to 2% so the few climbs are not difficult.
A great ride. Beautiful views. The tressles and tunnels are amazing.

Best day ever with Hoodoo Adventures! We rented bikes and booked a shuttle for a 20km KVR ride into Penticton. Service was awesome, friendly and fun. Bikes were in great shape. Would highly recommend them for any Penticton adventure they operate.

We are coming to the Okanagan this July and would love to book one of your tours. However, one of the 4 of us cannot ride her own bike. Do you have a tandem bike available or any other suggestions. Erik

Hi Erik, we are excited to work with you.
We do not have a tandem bike, I've tried to find one recently and could not.
We have a tag along half bike that would be suitable for a person shorter than 5 foot 2 (ish) and less than 95 lbs (ish)
May I suggest a kayak tour for your whole party to do as a group? we have an award winning signature Kayak tour, or a wildlife viewing experience by kayak.

Hi. We plan to do this ride in July 2017 from Myra Canyon. Sounds incredible!
What time did you start the ride from Myra? How long does it take? I presume with rest stops and lunch probably an hour is added?
I usually bike in town a couple times a week 20-40 kms Spring, Summer and Fall. i use riding gloves, biking shorts and camelback water bag. Any other suggestions? Thanks! Carol

Hi Carol.
We usually arrive at Myra Canyon about 9.00am
The ride takes most people between 7 and 8 hours.
Historic Chute lake lodge is about half way, and great stop for lunch, they do some of the best home made pie you've ever had
Even in July I would pack a light weight weather shell. the Myra Canyons are at over 4000 feet keep it in your pack but its long way to go if you are cold.
The ride is a bit over 80 kms, the surface is railway bed but can get bumpy in spots. some people throw an extra gel seat cover on their seats or pack an extra pair of bike shorts.
You will love this adventure, it is a special piece of history.
Please feel free to call us if you need further info 2 50 492 3888 and I recommend to book a shuttle with us asap as we are filling up and July is one of our busiest months.
