Unfortunately this facility doesn't advertise their tours due to govt regulations, so this is Penticton's best kept secret. We had the most amazing tour by Wendell and Tom and much was learned about Canada's radio history and the site's infrastructure. This was a long tour...More

We stopped yesterday, they have been paving he road on one side. It's off the beaten path but a nice scenic drive to it, turn off your cell phones and go for a walk to see it all. A nice 15 min walk in. Interesting...More

Wendall was a great guide and so enthusiastic. My son (8) is now even more in love with astronomy. It is free and takes abou 60-90 minutes. Walk-in only site, 5 minutes but well wort it. Bring water.

This was our first visit....we had seen this place from a distance when we were hiking in the White Lake Protected area. It was an Open House and really well set up and extremely interesting, even for a non-science person like me. Really worth a...More

Enjoyed a visit to the observatory although some of the information went over my head. My wife, as a retired physics teacher understood more! You have to walk from the road for 10-15 minutes but it is quite an easy walk. There are information points...More

We didn't even know this observatory was here, but I'm so glad someone recommended we go, because the site is incredible. Located among the hills of Penticton, shielded from radio interference. I've never seen a radio observatory this large, and later I found out that...More

Been there many times when they had yearly open houses! Lots to do, lots to see. People who work there were extremely friendly. Would love to go there at night and star gaze!

Located just south of Penticton, near White Lake is this amazing hidden treasure! The scenery/vista are breathtaking! A great experience for family. There are guided tours on weekends, but self-guided mid week. which is still great. Take lots of time absorbing what you are reading,...More

Wow! What an amazing hidden treasure! To start with, the scenery/vista was breathtaking! I was completely intrigued with the whole experience. There are guided tours on weekends, but we were there during the week, so it was a self-guided tour, which was great. We took...More

Unfortunately, DRAO doesn't offer guided tours during winter time. Most of the tours are given from Easter weekend until Thanksgiving weekend. You could always ask and see if you can visit the visitors centre.
