Description:

Situated in Penticton, at the gateway to the picturesque Naramata Bench,...

Situated in Penticton, at the gateway to the picturesque Naramata Bench, Upper Bench offers a unique experience to locals and visitors by offering pairings of their two passions: artisan wine and hand-crafted cheese. Winemaker Gavin Miller believes great wine is made in the vineyard and farms sustainably, with out the use of chemicals or pesticides. Upper Bench produces big bold reds and crisp dry whites. All of Upper Bench's wines come from the mature vines on Upper Bench's unique seven-acre vineyard and a select few other vineyards along the Naramata Bench. Cheesemaker Shana Miller continues to create her unique and highly sought-after hand crafted artisan cheeses in her on site, CFIA registered state of the art creamery. She now has seven delectable cheeses in her aging rooms: U&Brie, Gold, Gold French, Gold Italian, Okanagan Sun, Grey Baby and a stilton style blue named King Cole. Come and watch Shana hand-craft her cheeses through the creamery window, speak to Gavin about his award-winning wines and latest releases, and enjoy a wine flight perfectly paired with one of our cheese platters on our sunny Naramata Bench patio. We are located just 2 minutes from downtown Penticton and are open all year round (except Christmas Holidays). Please check our website for our hours of operation.

We went to this winery on recommendation of our daughter who knows the winemaker, Gavin. He gave us a private tour to show us how things work and we got to sample the a couple of the wines from the holding tanks and they were excellent. We sampled all the wines they had for tastings as well as some of... More

Lovely cheese and wine pairing. Really enjoyed the selection and ended up coming home with a nice selection of wine and some cheese. Staff was personable and pleasant towards our group that was at the end of our tour.

What a great experience we had! We went in for the cheese, having heard great things, we left with two bottles of wine, cheese and crackers. The service was amazing, despite the winery being busy. We did not feel rushed or short changed from the full experience. When we got back to the place we were staying and had our... More

Had lunch on the patio. Cheese Plate with charcuterie and a wine sampler. Cheese was made on site and was fantastic. Very friendly staff.

My wife and I visited this winery while touring some of the others in the area and loved it. It seemed like this winery was less busy than others (at least when we were there) but turned out to be one of our favourites. In addition to wine, they make cheese in house too, so you get to pair cheese... More

Honest wine. We like their dry rosé and Merlot. You must try their cheeses. We always stop on our way back after some bench wine tasting to pick up our favorite cheese. Enjoy .

Great winery and patio with local made cheese and wine. The pinot noir and the chardonnay are must buys! We also enjoyed the 3 types of Grey Baby cheese and the stinky cheese is delicious. Stop in for a charcuterie board with wine for lunch!

We couldn't resist stopping here.... wine AND cheese.....OK! The tasting room was quite small, so in order to enjoy the cheese, you had to take a seat outside on the patio. The weather wasn't great, but we were still able to enjoy it! We had the cheese board and a flight of wine that included 3 samples of wine with... More

We visited this family run estate winery and were greater by very friendly and knowledgable staff. Mike served from their five open wines (all dry) and also served cheese pairings from their own creamery. Their Riesling was my personal favorite and the U&Brie and Greybaby cheese paired well... Mmmm. Worth a stop if your in the Penticton and Naramata area... More

The tasting here was great - five wines with 3 cheese pairings included. Would have liked to stay for a sit down cheese platter but the weather wasn't cooperating unfortunately !
