About
Perched high above Okanagan Lake, our winery is located among the rolling hills of Naramata Bench Road. Here we have the most inspiring views you could possibly imagine. Which is probably why we tend to look at things a little differently. Our engaging and, at times, offbeat approach gives a certain proud flair to everything we do. Not surprisingly, our wines consistently receive top honours at major wine competitions around the world. Not to mention, the 6 Lieutenant Governor's Award of Excellence under our belts. Come join us for an experience that is a short detour from the expected and experience the Red Rooster experience!

This used to be one of our favorite wineries. It is still very good but I think the wine prices have increased quite a bit.

Our wine tasting was good but I felt very impersonal. I’m not sure whether I would return.

Wine was decent. Staff on the other hand was less than friendly. Not one member smiled when we were there (parents, friend, and myself). Super unfriendly and off putting, especially the man who took our payment at the end - as if we were annoying them by being there. Not impressed and left with a bad feeling in my mouth.

A very lovely setting, it invites you to come and linger for a while. The Red Rooster wines are also very good. Depending on the Flight of the Day, you will get to taste at least 5 different wines. We think that the so called Naramata Bench produces very good Whites but some of the Reds are also quite excellent.
We truly enjoyed our tasting experience here.

A lot left to be desired. When we arrived the guy at the front didn’t have our reservation although I had booked online a month in advance, paid the wine tasting fees and confirmed my emails. He said even though he didn’t have our name he could seat us. I explained I could show him my emails but he was uninterested in looking. Our wine was put in front of us by a bus boy who said he knows nothing about the wine a d that was it. Our view from the bar was a noisy dishwasher that was turned on. We were left unattended with no info given about the wine. It was the only tour of the day with no explanation about the wine so I doubt it was because of covid.
When we went to buy a couple bottles we asked both having the $30 tasting fee taken off the bottles as it stated this is what happen on the website to be told that you just don’t pay a wine fee.
Once again it was like the guy who does the seating did not believe me in the fact that we had prebooked and paid.
My husband and I specifically returned to the winery as it was one we had visited on our honeymoon 15 years ago and it was nearing our anniversary. Definitely the worst winery of the whole day along the naramata bench.

I cannot tell you how much of a disappointment Red Rooster was last week. We were a party of 5 and as this was the 4th winery on our "Winery Day" I wanted us to have a good snack and loved the idea of the chacuterie offered by RR. The website looked promising with pictures of a lushious olives and creamy cheeses served on a board - very seductive. Not cheap but hey it was our annual family trip to Penticton and I wanted it to be special. I booked through the third party service RR uses but this was painful so ended up calling to confirm booking. When we got there our booking could not be found by our teenage host although it was at the top of the list. After we sat down said teenager (who was very polite) served up what can only be descrived as what looked like hospital puke boxes with the most pathetic looking "chacuterie Board" I have ever seen in a commerical setting. It was laughable. The wines were also served (good pours for sure) but with no explanation of what they were. Clearly this young lad was in way over his head, which was not his fault. We called over a member of staff who was clearly more experienced and I explained my utter disappointment at the food and she did her best to help (she was awesome) and we had a bit of a laugh about it because at the end of the day it was just cheese and clearly the staff were doing their best under difficult circumstances.

Bottom line - avoid Red Rooster. The wines were good for sure but any company that switches and baits like they do should be avoided. Have a look for yourselves at what is advertised and then imagine a couple of cubes of cheese, a slice of salami, a couple of olives and some pepperoni (yes pepperoni) dumped in a hospital barf box and then decide where you want to spend your money. There are sooo many amazing small wineries offering so much more I would avoid it at all costs.

SHAME ON YOU RED ROOSTER. You are lucky you have the staff you do as they were awesome.

I would add that I always take reviews with a pinch of salt as I know everything is subjective, but this was bloody awful.

We came to Red Rooster because on previous visits we had always had a good experience, not so on our most recent. The winery itself is gorgeous and most staff are friendly and knowledgeable and all are following the correct COVID protocol.

Our disappointment came when we received our wine flights (4 wines). The older gentleman who brought our wine basically put it down in front of us and told us unenthusiastically what they were and walked away without any kind of description or further information. We were also unhappy with the small pours (no more than an ounce) compared to other tables around us who had the better part of a third of a glass, keeping in mind that tastings are $15 dollars PER PERSON! I also had to stop and ask a pleasant young lady who was helping another table for a reminder of what wines we were tasting because our original server was no where to be seen.

We probably won’t be going back to Red Rooster again when we return in September as we will concentrate on other great wineries in the area. Red Rooster needs to take some lessons from Ruby Blues, which is right across the road.

An unfortunate experience because of a single person.

Completely disappointed. Our server was more interested in being an bad comedian than a wine server. This is wine tasting not a comedy club. Jelly beans, Lemon, and salt for a wine tasting? If your wine is any good you don't need something else to enhance the experience, maybe some crackers to cleanse your palette .
We were charged for 4 tasting instead of three our driver did not do a tasting and was served water as he should have been but clearly there was only three tastings
We have been to Red Rooster many times in the past with a great experience. This years wines we fair at best a big disappointment.

As we were arriving in town late in the day I phoned to confirm it was still ok to come for a tasting and they said fine. We arrived even sooner that I said we would and we were greeted at the door and told “we’re closed” even it was well before closing time. After I said we called we were reluctantly seated at the patio. We explained we only wanted to taste reds, but whites were brought. The server then took them away with a roll of her eyes. The reds were brought, and the description of each was abrupt and hurried. The server left and never came back. The wines were not good in comparison to other wineries. We are a 60+ couple that tour wineries every year and purchase many cases. In all the years we have been doing this, this was our only bad experience and we will not return to Red Rooster

Was not impressed. A flight was put in front of us with no explanation about the wines. My questions were answered. I'd hoped that this would show my interest in wine and spark a conversation. It did not. It was not very busy but we had a loud group from a tour seated near us so we decided to leave quickly. On a positive note, we went next door to Ruby Blues which was outstanding and we would not have discovered otherwise.

My husband and I went here a few weeks ago and it was amazing! We were the only ones there and felt so catered to. The host was amazing he was so helpful and even opened the bubbles for us to try and it was epic! Probably one of my fave sparking wines now. The other wines were really smooth too. We will visit again for sure!
