The New Westminster Quay reminded me, in some ways, of Victoria’s Inner Harbour and Pier in that it’s difficult to distinguish from other attractions in the area, i.e.: the Esplanade and Boardwalk. No worries, though, because the Quay is an inclusive space: Here, you can experience the boardwalk, views of the mighty Fraser, New West’s signature hanging baskets, shops, eateries and a bit of history . . . all in one beautiful place.

Indeed, it’s nice to have a bit of a mental break during these challenging times. Walking along the boardwalk and reading the historical write-ups on the Fraser River transport you back to another time. Picture yourself in the 1860s, prepping to traverse the Fraser en route to the Cariboo – gold is calling! Okay, that’s an idealization, but it certainly speaks to the rich history of the area – the living history – and engages the mind.

After taking in the fresh air and sounds of the river, why not enjoy a bite to eat in the Boathouse, or procure something fresh at the nearby market? The Quay is an area full of possibilities. Now, take a moment and enjoy!

The weekend that I went there were Vendors with their items nicely set out along the boardwalk. Beautiful weather and nice ambiance outside.
Inside the River Market plaza was a bit quiet. Not a lot of shops on ground floor. Second floor were rooms for a choir? And the circus training centre which was unique.

went for a nice stroll with our son hudson. unfortunately he fell in the water, they were no lifeguards and our little buddy doesn’t know how to swim so i had to dive in after him. luckily he made it out ok and all is well that ends well.

Nice walk by the river on the first dry day in a long time! A little windy and cool, but well worth it!

We occasionally walk the quay to view the shipping on the Fraser River. There is a huge variety including tugboats, fishing boats, river dredges and large vessels from all over the world (as well as our own paddle wheeler for tourists) as well, there are some very good restaurants there, offering a broad selection. A great place to walk on a sunny day!

Business trip, been here three times. Room very clean, and comfortable. There is a small fridge in the TV stand, but if you ask for a microwave you can have one in your room. Nice place, close to the market and the view of the water is always relaxing, patio is also great to sit out on and enjoy the morning.

Check in Nov1, asked for room on 6th floor , in email sent about two weeks prior, given one on 3rd when i showed up, compromised on 5th floor. broken glass found in room, changed rooms, when out for dinner and walking around and came back to find a parking ticket on my car ,given by the hotels lot attendant, about a hour after id checked in/registered, issue taken to desk and fixed.

New room much better then one originally given but still small issues with fridge and in room heating, decided what ever.

Night three, my partner arrives for romantic weekend to celebrate five year anniversary, at about 12:20am takes a shower/bath in Jacuzzi tub, about 10minutes to one in the morning we find water has soaked carpet in closet, "den/desk" area outside of bathroom and spread to the rooms entrance, all while the tiled bathroom floor is dry.
Front desk called, told someone will be sent up but that we will need to switch rooms as the water will need to be turned off in the one we're in.

Attendant shows up and tells us that the water has actually spread out into the floors main hallway, going out from the wall by about a foot, as well i look for my self and find that the water has also flowed into the fire escape stairwell.

Room changed to smaller room directly across the hall, after moving about half our stuff, walking on soaked carpeting we found that the bed was not only smaller but also one of those "Murphy" beds, {the kind that is a fold up/down from the wall.}

Front desk called about issue, moved to another room on a different floor, aside from dropping off new key cards and trolley no help from staff, time is now about 1:20 in the morning.

Get into new room, {technically the 4th since check in} unpack, discover that the bed is to hard/uncomfortable, but to tired at this point to move to another room, as well could not leave as we both had been having some drinks so not safe to drive {5th year anniversary}.

Email sent to the hotel manager about the issues.

Worst sleep we've had, woke up stiff/sore and in general just not happy/miserable, email from hotel manager , later call, manager offered to take a night off the bill or give us a free night at a later date or a $100.00 gift certificate for the boathouse restaurant, said i would think about it and if she could call back as she was not in teh hotel at this time.

During the discussion with my partner and what we would like to do my partner noticed bugs in the room, i had , had enough, called down to teh front desk and told then that we where checking out, the manager called back as we where finishing packing.

Didnt really give her much of a chance to talk , said, we found bugs in teh room, we're done, we're leaving, and i hung up.

Four night stay of joy turned into two okay night and one night of hell.

Pics taken of bugs in room, as well as the room flood, the most unimpressed ive ever been with any hotel , room changed 4 times with one including a floor change at 120am, almost hard as a rock bed and a very distinctive apathetic attitude from staff/manager, thanks for the special memories for our Anniversary.

If you want some piece of mind, great icecream, nice breakfast or a cup of coffee, this is the place to be especially in summer with the Fraser River breeze of fresh air.

I like this place to go on Sundays, have an ice cream or coffee and sit and relax. Some things I think they can improve on is the closing time of most of River Market businesses, they close so early and the place doesn't have wheelchair/stroller ramps! yeahhhh is a huge fail and they have to work on. It's difficult to access to you have a baby!
