This park was really cool! So many hidden reminders of a mine operation from over 100 years ago! The forest is beautiful as well and the walk is easily doable with young children. I’d highly recommend for a little family adventure.

Interesting piece of local history, the colliery is well worth a visit, and the short trail is a pleasant and easy stroll. The tipple is eye-catching, and could do with a little more interpretive info, though!

Morden Colliery is located 7km south of Nanaimo on a 4 ha piece of land. There is a fair bit of the old concrete coal tipple left to see. In fact it is the last remaining coal tipple on Vancouver Island. There is a lovely...More

I liked the signage, the easy trail, the historic features, the interesting trees, the sweet bridges (brand new!) and the surprise end - the Nanaimo River with a little bench. It could use an outdoor toilet just because kids need to go when they need...More
