The mining section may be a little scary for young children as it is very dark. The evolution of miners lighting is of particular interest. The section... More

The permanent exhibits offer an in-depth,... More

Had some time to spare in Nanaimo and went to the museum and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of displays and great historical facts about Nanaimo and the surrounding area. Very informative and well put together.

The displays are well done and they provide information that takes you on a self guided walk through the downtown area siting significant buildings in... More

The museum is nice, but it could be incredible, unfortunately there are not many interactive peaces. We liked, good to know more about the city history.

This is a good place to go to learn more about the history of the city and its connection to coal. Children may enjoy the schoolroom exhibit. The museum shop has lovely items for sale at a reasonable price. Good place for souvenirs.
