We've visited Naniamo several times but never knew much about the history of the community. This small museum offers a good overview. The entry is through the gift shop...pay the sales person--very reasonable $2 or $1.75 Canadian for seniors. The exhibits have helpful reader boards...More

We found this museum really interesting showing the history of Nanaimo. Coal mining; First Nation history; fishing; logging; murder mysteries; ghosts. Les was particularly helpful for us by searching archives regarding our family history in Nanaimo.

Very interesting museum on Nanaimo which won't take you days to go through. I read most everything they have and it took just under 2 hours. Highly recommend. Best part is only $2 to get in.

The mining in Nanaimo exhibit was very interesting. The maps showing the waterways then and now, big comparison. You learn that excess rock from mining was dumped in the water. We totally enjoyed.
