Took the Riverside walk with family and their 2 dogs and ended up here. They were so impressed with the dog park and insisted I bring them back again when they visit. Unfortunately the temperature was -2 so a little cold for the dogs to go swimming but in the summer when Kamloops gets scorching hot it will a great relief for our furry friends.

This is a Off Leash Dog Park (only in the sandy beach area) located in downtown Kamloops, BC.

The setting is very easily accessible and also there are plenty of parking, the park is next to the South Thompson River. After letting your furry friend play in the water, you can stroll along the walkway and explore the Red Bridge and study its history.

It is always a great find when dog owners can let their dogs run free and be themselves!! To have this facility within the downtown core is such a precious thing!

This is a nice park to walk through but the beach is the best. It's great for dogs who love to chase balls and sticks into the water.

Did the Rivers Walk trail and ended up here for some downtime. Picturesque park with lots of friendly dogs and their owners. If I ever get another dog this place will be high on my list to visit.

In the middle of a semi-desert this was a lovely surprise. The lawns and amenities are well taken care of and it is a great place for people to just relax.

Sometimes this place gets a little busy! A nice place to hang with friends and play sports, or simply bring your dog for a swim and play on the beach! Make sure your dog is only off leash on the sand, because By-Law will give tickets to off leash dogs on the grass. Other than that, nice spot!

This is a dog beach so not so nice for just sun bathing. If you have dogs great place for them to run.

Basically an extension of Riverside Park reached by walking past the Heritage Railway site. Good place to exercise your dog and look at the red bridge.

In recent months signs have gone up about what is 'Off Leash' I love this park for my dogs when I don't have time to go further afield. It is now regularly patrolled by Bylaw Officers some of whom can be quite aggressive and others kinder, handing out leashes if you don't have one.Leash your dog(s) from car to sand and try your best to keep them off the grass as they run around. Great place to socialize with other dogs. Mine get a real work out in a relatively short period of time.If you use a cane, have two dogs on leash and are trying to get to the sandy area walking over frozen ground,TAKE CARE. Once on the sand you can walk both ways but the south side to the left is in the shade. Family of swans arrived early in January. The tend to stay on the north side of the river in the sun. On one magical day I watched 20 plus common mergansers paddling like soldiers marching, upstream in a group dipping their beaks to fish at the same time. I will probably never see this again. Have seen a black bear swim across from the south side in the summer. If your dog likes to fetch a ball go up onto Riverside Park trail and find the tennis balls that have gone over the fence from the tennis club. The sandy area will disappear for a while with the spring melt. Not sure what we will be able to let our dogs do given the current enforcement of the Bylaws.
