What a great area to spend time with family and kids. Enjoyed the water park splash park and the playground. The playground is really good for kids to enjoy and also made for larger kids and young adults. Then we ventured to the beach area along the Thompson River. Really pleasant experience and the beach was safe, clean, and really great. Also, free parking in July/August for 2023, and there is live music from a different band every night at 7pm. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and relax!

A very nice easy walk alongside the river, and an easy stroll from town. We went during a weekend and the area and the parks were busy with families and people enjoying the weather. Very pleasant walk with some nice outlooks.

Great family park, city puts on music every night for the summer! Great area, very nice, a few homeless folks but we all need some nice in our lives. Great walkways. Some construction active which limited access but that just means improvements on the way!

When my partner and I were plotting and planning our Okanagan itinerary, Riverside Park was one of the “must stop” locations. The combination of high ratings, good words and beautiful pictures won us over and, we thought, promised an epic experience. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the park and explored, we left feeling a little underwhelmed. I mean, it’s a nice park, but far from being the “Most amazing park,” to quote an earlier review.

As we ambled about in the hot summer sun, we enjoyed the greenspace, weeping willow trees, access to the Thompson River and Uji Friendship Garden. The Friendship Garden, by the way, is a nice bit of contemporary history: It signifies the “sister city relationship” between Kamloops and Uji, Japan. In seeing this, I couldn’t help but think of similar arrangements elsewhere in the Province (Prince Rupert and Victoria). It really is nice when we can, as upstanding citizens, form relationship and foster goodwill between different cities and countries. Such symbolism seems distant and challenging in our current day.

In any event, while we weren’t blown away by this park (the #2 thing to do in Kamloops?), I’m sure many others will enjoy it: The children’s waterpark, small beach, basketball and tennis courts speak to a much larger audience. For us, though, it was just a stop.

We had an overnight stay in Kamloops and thought of spending sometime at the Riverside Park. A great park in front of the water with lots of trees, splash park, grass fields, walking trail and a beach. An excellent place to relax. Loved watching the sunset at the pier – gorgeous views.

They have spent a bit of money here to make the park beautiful with gardens and bring in children with playgrounds and a water park. It overlooks the river/lake and is a pleasant spot for a picnic.

Located on the river in downtown Kamloops, riverside park offer plenty of fun for the family.

There is plenty of parking, although the majority of it is not free.

The park offers a beach, water park, child playground, plenty of green space, rose garden and sports facilities.

The park is located minutes from downtown Kamloops which opens up many nice restaurants for lunch or dinner or just a snack.

If you want a cheap day out with the family I would recommend riverside park the place to go.

My only negative comment is that the majority of parking is not free.

If spending anytime in Kamloops take a walk through this park
Gorgeous trees, ice cream to buy, water spray park for kids, read, play ball or just walk along river on the wonderful paved path

Clean beautifully kept. Enjoy live music free all summer every night!

In the middle of the downtown, Riverside park is close to Scoopz ice cream and the Shark Club. Nice park with swing sets and pickle ball courts. Here’s the negative: keep your children close because there are many vagrants in this park.
