This train has so much potential! Actual experience/pros/cons/recommendations: - unnecessary first class ticket pick-up. There is a ticket center that is neat to see with trinkets, post cards, toques etc. you can purchase via the court yard... if you have pre-booked would be nice to see what prior boarding/unnecessary smelly wait could offer: perhaps a pre-booking benefit, try to offer an insurance if folks want to cancel due to the obvious overbooking of the experience, mail tickets and make the tickets a part of the experience - expensive and no refunds ($85 for two adults and two kids) with little experience (a straight train ride across the bridge, to the reserve, passed the graveyard, RV parks, houses, dirt, unkept areas, than reverse back... the CN junction? offer a loop if possible and an actual scenic route) - long wait and smelly line (1.5 hours outside - due to another train coming? We didn't see the other train which I'm sure was somewhere?), we were next to the sewer where when the fence shook the smell would arise from the ground (maybe this was a part of the Halloween experience). - costumes were fun to see from those who participated - packed! we were able to obtain some seat but found it challenging to move around (we were encouraged to move around but would lose our seats if we didn't have someone stay behind). - music, communication was challenging (there was no music, could not hear the staff, maybe provide some colorful posters with a vibrant experience and lay-out, offer fun games with prizes regardless of if the PA systems operation) - advertise the actual experience (there was no pumpkin patch, there was a court yard with pumpkins that you would grab and take home). There was some coffee, cookies at the beginning of the trip randomly located in the court yard - Improve communications, create a vibrant/actual/authentic experience, lower the cost or provide refunds for folks that do not want to continue with the experience. Create a customer centric experience. Obtain feedback and implement. This was a disappointment and unfortunately underwhelming. Maybe it was an off day, if we could get our money back we would.

Embarrassing to say the least... We were greeted by a train that was completely oversold, which meant we didn’t have a seat the entire trip. Okay we can get over that! We’ve been before and it’s a busy train. We can’t get over the rest of the trip however! We didn’t even go to a pumpkin patch!!! What the hell!? The train is advertised to take you to a pumpkin patch!!! The trip was way shorter than advertised and the staff were extremely unfriendly! It was only 45 minutes long and supposed to be an hour and a half! At the end of the trip, we were practically thrown a pumpkin because the staff wanted to go home! I don’t care if you’re a volunteer or not. We paid hard earned money for our family... and for nothing. We took the train last year to an amazing pumpkin patch, what happened to it!? Give your head a shake Kamloops steam train! You won’t be seeing us, or our family and friends again.

We stopped over in Kamloops especially to take a trip on the Heritage Railroad and good old 2141 and had a really enjoyable time. The engine has been beautifully preserved and all the volunteers and staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Highly recommended!

We had a stayover in Kamloops and desided to use our evening - with a ride on this old steamtrain. This was a great experiance and fun ride and great views, and great to see so many volunteers who are passionate about in having this train running and making this experiance possible. Also the entertainment onboard was fun. I Would definitely recommend this train ride.

Saturday evening. Decided to spend a couple of hours on a 6 km steam train trip. Have done steam trains round the world and this one the volunteers put their heart and soul into it. Ok,the route brings you through a pretty unimpressive part of Kamloops (the self-deprecatory commentary acknowledges this) the outlaw hold-up is more amusing than realistic and the dancing girls are enthusiastic amateurs but the price is very reasonable for a valuable slice of history. Fair play to all concerned. Absolutely loved it. The kaboose is very unique. Never come across it before.
