Our visit to BC Wildlife Park
We visited the wildlife park today and we were very impressed with our visit. We paid less than $20 per person, which we thought was very good value - and actually too cheap for a nonprofit organisation. We are always very careful about visiting places with animals in captivity - however, we recognised that the animals here had been rescued and weren’t bread by this park to be exploited. It was interesting (and sad) to read how all of the animals ended up in the park as we walked around. But as animal lovers, it is nice to know that they have a safe home - far better than the otherwise alternative. The park is much bigger than it looks from the outside, with many different enclosures to look at. We completely understood when we attended that some of the animals might choose to be out of sight, which is fine and nice to know they can be away from people. All the staff we encountered throughout our visit were incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to talk to us about the animals. All in all, the money we paid didn’t seem enough for the time we had here. We would recommend anyone visit to enjoy the experience and support the good work done to give these animals a second chance.

    Always fun to visit
The park was clean and not very busy. We saw lots of animals including the birds of prey, bears, foxes, donkeys, frogs, and a wolf. Bring cash for the train ride. It was a good deal and the kids loved it. Definitely will return for another visit.

Pretty nice park to see canadian animals
Really nice place, reasonable size neither to small or to big. I didn't take the small train i just walked around. I was pretty happy with the animals I have been able to see: grizzly, wolf, black fox, owl, raccoons, cougar and farmer animals. I was alone and i had fun, as a kid i would have loved it as you can also brush the sheep and goats😄 I had a good day specially for $19. I recommend 3h.

Small park ideal for younger children
This is a fairly small park so doesn’t overwhelm small children. Our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed looking at the animals. We understand that in wildlife parks the animals are sometimes asleep or hiding but we managed to see most of the ones in this park which was great. There was a small train to ride on and the park has numerous benches around the whole park which was appreciated by our heavily pregnant daughter! We also finished the cafe where the food was hot and was reasonably priced.

As grandparents we are thrilled to spend time with our five year old granddaughter so we decided to take her to the wildlife park, last week. She loved the train. Enjoyed seeing the animals. We did ask for a paper map that they use to hand out but they told us they have signs through out the park we decided to check out the map to make sure we were not missing anything as we approached the map a swarm of hornets started to attack us they bit or stung my husband he got one beside his mouth and the hornet ended up in his mouth as he spit it out he was bitten four more times on his back. He is allergic to them. Our granddaughter was screaming because she was bitten i swooped her up and ran away. We notified and warned park goers as we left the park. We stopped to buy our granddaughter toys from the gift shop just to help her to have her mind on happier things while my husband told people in charge. The staff all repeated the same line we are sorry this happened to you. Just want the public to be aware to stay away from the maps.it was a miserable ending of what we thought would be a happy memory for all of us.

Great place to see wild animals that we can’t see often. The most important is to know the animals that leave there are recovered animals that got hurt and for some reason would not be able to leave a “normal” life in a wild environment. You will see eagles, black and grizzly bears, white wolves and some more. There is a small train that makes a kind of 8 circuit. Not too exciting but the kids like a lot!

We had time before our hotel room was ready, so we went here to spend time, and we were very happy we did. This a large park with a lot to see. If you don't want to just go for the animals, there is a playground, small petting zoo and what looks like a kids splash park as well.

The staff were polite and friendly, as were the volunteers. The park is open, the paths are wide and everything is clean. If you have a few hours, it's definitely worth the visit!

I was very excited to see so many native animals here and it is nice to see injured and orphaned animals taken care of. However, I am quite shocked at the size of the enclosures. I can't understand how the animals are given so little space for their entire lives just to make it convenient for tourists. I'm also shocked this hasn't been mentioned in previous reviews as it's all i could think about when visiting. For example the birds; while a lot of them have wing injuries and don't need space to fly, there are some locked up in tiny spaces (particularly your hawk). Humans have so much space around this park - cafe, train, water park etc., give this space to the animals who spend their lives there, not the humans who visit for a few hours???

Some TLC in the enclosures wouldn't go astray. I can appreciate this is non-for profit, but most zoos are. This one had extremely overgrown and messy enclosures (at times, impossible to see the animals). If you were a kid at this zoo, goodluck seeing any animals at all, adults are barely able to. Needs to really consider the appeal of the park. I'm sure the animals are okay, but as a day-out event for kids and families, this misses the mark.

It’s a great place that looks after injured and rescued animals.

Not all enclosures were open (no coyotes or badgers, for example) but we saw all the bears, and extremely close up at feeding time.

There’s a nice train in the middle ($1 per person) which takes you around the park.

For younger ones there’s a good playground in the centre.

The prices in the cafe were very reasonable.

You’ll spend around 2-3 hours here.

The park is about 20 mins EAST of Kamloops - easy drive, great big signs to tell you where to get off. We were there about 30 mins into the opening and the social distancing was easy to do. I believe only about 2 animal exhibits were closed, but other than that, plenty to see. The kids water playground was a bonus!!

A great variety of animals and it's really interesting reading the plaques to learn how and why they were rescued. Of course they are animals so some were sadly hiding, like the porcupine and Bobcat, but got to see grizzly bears, owls, cougars, and donkeys to name a few. It's very easy to spend a couple hours here walking around and animal watching.
