This a great place to spend a day with children. I have taken my grandchildren several times and it's always a good day. Pack a picnic This park has the feeling of being in a wilderness setting removed from any frills enabling one to reconnect with nature. There is a very pleasant walking trail around the lake which takes about an hour and a half. Long enough for the kids to get some exercise but short enough that they enjoy the walk. Afterwards you can spend a few hours at the beach area where there are picnic tables and the kids can get their fill of fun in the water. On the way back you may want to stop at the Greenpoint picnic area on Harrison Lake. It's a beautiful spot but the water is cold. Then it's on to the town of Harrison Hot Springs where you find a variety of places to eat something before heading home.

I am a full-time artist. I went up to HIcks Lake to see if it would be a nice painting location and it exceeded my expectations. A nice, natural feeling and looking location. Compared with Harrison Lake, Hicks Lake is quiet and offers many views that would make excellent references for paintings. This year, if possible, I will be going back there with a kayak to really explore its possibilities. Good parking, plenty of quiet places to set up a painting kit, an overall nice lake to visit

This wonderful spot provided an afternoon of exercise and beauty as we walked around the lake. The awe of nature was everywhere and we stopped to take many wonderful photos. From time to time we paused and heard nothing but the wind in the trees, magical moments.

We have decided to go camping for my birthday with my grandparents and two cousins. For my birthday night, we have decided to bbq next to the lake and potentially sleep on the beach watching the stars on our inflatable sleeping bags. The next thing I remeber, this elderly lady ranger starts pointing an extremely bright flashlight to our eyes and starts yelling without any reasonable attempt to listen us. She demanded us to empty the beach and return to our campsites. If I cannot watch the starts when I go camping from the beach, what is the point of all this?
Park rangers are abusing their authority and we can’t really do anything about it!

This is an oily cesspool crowded badly with the illiterate trash of the Fraser Valley. It is a gross lake with a sludge bottom and flies and bugs hatching all over. Not to mention the overcrowding that you get with a spot popular among illiterate trailer trash.

Just spent a week @ Hicks lake camping (two tents) as a family with (two kids).
This would be our sixth year visiting different BC Provincial Parks so we speak with
some authority in saying this park has the smallest sites we have encountered.
Suffice to say privacy is poor since most sites have very little separation.
Due to staff cut backs by BC Parks, we found that the park was not as clean as we
expected (beer bottles, pop cans on the beach). As well there is no host/operator on site and if there is excessive noise or a camper lets his dogs run on the beach
there's no way to notify the staff. There's no patrol after 10PM. Cell phones don't work in this area.
The lake and setting is beautiful. The most private site is # 37

I was looking forward to introducing camping to several of my friends whom never camped in their life. We brought our own firewood and kindle from our homes so we didn't have to buy firewood at the campground. However the park ranger pretty much ruined our camping experience when he came up to us and said he was going to fine us $1100 for taking wood from the forest and that another park ranger warned us 2x already to not take wood from "their forest" (Their forest?, Isn't it the government's forest?). The thing was, there was another park ranger that came up to warn us, but she only warned us once and we took note of that and respected her words, and didn't collect any firewood from their forest. So, he was going to fine us $1100 for no reason at all and with no proof of us actually taking wood from their forest. How is that even legal? He then went on to brag about how he already fined 5 other campsites and evicted several other campers whom were "caught" taking dead branches off the ground and using them for their camp fire. This was during the Canada Day long weekend, so you would think he would be a bit more compassionate and not make false accusations. Doesn't seem like a really Canadian thing to do, especially during Canada's 150th anniversary.

The last two times we have tried camping at Hicks it had been very terrible. Attempt 1 - site H14 we booked online and had reserved. All was well until we got there and found the site was barely 36ft when it says on there website still today it is 79ft deep. We could not fit our trailer and truck in the site. When we brought this up to the site management as well as Discover Camping they were not able to fix the issue and refused to refund all our money! It's not our fault that site is falsely advertised! Yet they paid like it was.
Attempt 2 - just this weekend. Was trying to camp at Hicks knowing it was a shot in the dark, but that Bench would be open as first come first serve. Wrong! Again the website does not say the manager at first parks only opens Bench after Sept. 3 if they feel like it! Not enough staff and extra work means they close it! Very unhappy campers.

Drove there as a last minute find. Very serene, picturesque, kayak, etc rentals. A hidden gem. We arrived around 3pm and it was a great drive with natural surroundings, definitely recommend a trip there.

West side of lake is a trail - a few ups and downs, but not hard. The East side of the lake is a gravel road. Pretty views of the lake all along the hike. Find the little trail at the south end that goes down to the beach. Stop and have a picnic. It's like having your own lake in the mountains.

I thought the park rules were that dogs were to be leashed while within the boundaries of Sasquatch park. Also most wild life experts advise to keep dogs leashed as the unleashed dogs could bring bears back to you.

We have had two dogs over the years each lived to 16 years old, my concerns have nothing to do with the love of dogs, my concern is the ARROGANCE and IGNORANCE of dog owners some of whom put their pets on a pedestal and give their dogs equal status as humans, some dog owners have no concept of considerations for others, are you one of those?

Sorry don't know that. However, I believe it is a BC Provincial Park and there should be some info on their website.

HI there,
Just wondering about the camping there, and the availability, how much it costs. I am looking at this sunday and check out on Tuesday. Please let me know

I can't tell you the availability. My tent site was paid for, but it shouldn't be more than $35 / night.
Camping there is very nice. I like how the trees are nice and high and they don't she'd needles. They're a special kind of conifer that aren't so messy. Nice lake nearby which often gets infested with geese so watch out for water fowl and litter!
No WIFI down low by the lake. Outhouses were clean.
Nice retreat spot.
