Arizona Charlie Meadows would be proud
Aug 2019
I admit it, my husband and I have fallen under the spell of the Yukon. We've driven the Alaska Highway and visited Dawson over twenty times. For the past two years the theater has been closed for repairs but I have great memories. Parks Canada has done some very good tours with the guides dressed in Gold Rush attire. The inside of the theater is opulent with a painting of Arizona Charlie (who built the original in 1899) on the wall and a bar on the opposing wall. The theater itself is opulent with red curtains. We saw Parks Canada guides impersonate famous characters of the Gold Rush era on the stage. We saw the balcony with its private boxes and the red dressing room. What an experience. Another year we saw the display of the gowns worn by the present residents to a gala. A beautiful venue. Looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful Theater
Aug 2019
This time when we visited Dawson the theatre was open and we watched a skit from Parks Canada. They have done an excellent job of restoring this gem from the gold rush days. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous restored old theatre!
Jul 2019
The Parks Board does a good job trying to entertain the handful of people in the audience. I would have liked to have seen a good old melodrama though....

Incredible Guide

We had the most wonderful tour from Ode, who was kind, informative and accommodated us in a separate language the group to insure we were fully aware and understanding her information and stories. Thank you Parks Canada.

Very attractive facade
Jun 2019 • Couples
We walked by the Palace Grand Theatre several times, but never when it was open. This was disappointing, for the facade is very attractive. Better luck next time!

Nice to See
Aug 2018 • Family
The building is good to look at and there are information boards outside. Sadly closed when we looked around which rather limited our understanding.

Beautiful timepiece set in the gold rush era! The riches of the time of this building are astounding. It’s like being in a mini New York. One can only imagine the fun that was had.

We went to the matinee depicting 3 founding characters of the gold rush and whom was most influential. Lots of fun.

Great entertainment and a cool place to visit. M

Closed for Renovation
Jul 2018 • Couples
Unfortunately, the Palace Grand Theatre was closed for renovations (and it is normally only open as part of a tour or for a special event). However, it is a beautiful building from the outside.

An excellent and comfortable reproduction of historical theater
Jun 2018 • Friends
A comfortable place to see a show about the people of the Klondike! The authenticity of the time is carried in the materials and care used to furnish the theater. Nice job!

Too Bad It is Hard to Enter
Jun 2018 • Couples
This looks like it could be an amazing building to see. The outside of it is very nicely preserved and history well displayed. It is not open to the public unless one of the National Park programs offered let's you enter.
