You never know what you're going to get at BullSkit Comedy, but know it will be funny! This improv troupe puts on sketch shows, festivals, special events and workshops throughout the year in the Scott Block Theatre, downtown Red Deer. With cabaret style and riser seating, every seat is a good spot. They even sell alcohol (like Troubled Monk!) AND munchie mix! I'm surprised this kind of entertainment value exists in Red Deer frankly, I would usually have to travel to Edmonton or Calgary to see this caliber of production. They're currently on their 10th season and have new and amazing ideas that evolve each year they return. My favourite shows of their regular season are Get White Trashed, a improv format where every character who enters the stage pours a new drink and must finish it before the scene ends! You never know what quirks will happen as the entire show is off the cuff and once the cast gets tipsy, it's anyone's game. Bull Skit is their curated monthly show with both improv and sketch for those who want to see more developed ideas. There are often returning characters throughout the year - like innocent little "Alice and Sarah" or the "f'in' swearin' bartender". Bull Prov is all improv, and even something for the younger ones with Calf Skit - a fairy tale in sketch. The Sketchfest festival which opens their season in September is a great way to see talent brought in from all over Canada and the US. I've seen this show many times (usually a few times each season) and it is ALWAYS hilarious. Shows in the back of the theatre (Centennial Stage) are often $15 and perfect for Friday night date night or hang with friends. Tickets are available on EventBrite - don't sleep on this as shows often sell out.
