Maligne Lake is the largest glacially formed and fed lake in the Canadian Rockies and those remnants of the last Ice Age still cling to the cliffs, rest in the cirques and cap off the pinnacles of Maligne Lakes' fabulous ring of 3,360 meter mountains. It is the melt waters of those glaciers that give the lake its' lovely, tranquil-blue colour and that backdrop of lofty peaks which holds back the busy world and provides a calming wilderness experience.

World-famous Spirit Island, on Maligne Lake is the heart and soul of Jasper National Park. Accessible only by boat this diminutive icon of the Canadian Rockies is the destination point of the scenic Maligne Lake cruise.

The worldwide fame of Maligne Lake is historically and intrinsically bound to the art of Photography. Diminutive Spirit Island, resting in the hall of the Gods at the south end of Maligne Lake is, arguably the most photographed locale in the Canadian Rockies.

As usual, the weather was tipping it down, but don't let this put you off as apparently it rained for 28 days in July! It's a nice steady little cruise over to Spirit Island where you have. Chance for a short walk. The captain and guide, Louis and Seb, were both knowledgable and entertaining, especially with bad jokes, but they... More

We really enjoyed this cruise. Our guide was Kai and he was terrific and made it fun. The scenery was outstanding. We bought this cruise as part of a package. It is somewhat expensive but worth the price.

The price is worth the cruise to spirit island. We had an overcast day but that didn't make a difference to us. Our tour guide Trevor was very informative, friendly and educated about the whole tour. Our captain of the boat was called Britney, most importantly she got us from A to B back to A safely. Although the time... More

Booked as part of a package ticket deal with Brewsters, Lake Maligne was a nice half trip. The drive there is very pleasant as well. The boat trip takes you the length of the lake to see Spirit Island possibly one of the most photographed places in Canada. At the time we went it appears that only one boatload visit... More

If you're looking for a guided tour of the lake for views you wouldn't necessarily see on a short hike or canoe ride, this is a great tour. PROS: knowledgable guides, the famous view of Spirit Island, gorgeous views of the peaks/glaciers CONS: too short of a time to see the island, you can't hear the tour if you're on... More

Took this cruise on 20th Sept - the captain was Patrick and the guide was Kelsey a very great cruise to Spirit Island at the far end of the lake - many sights to see on the way and Kelsey was extremely knowledgeable and gave us all a wealth of local knowledge and answered all of our questions. A great... More

The staff were very informative and the scenery was out of this world!! Truly magnificent. The trip lasted about an hour. There is a well run gift shop and restaurant nearby.

This is one of the great attractions in Jasper. You get to hear some of the great history of Jasper, Maligne Lake, and Spirit Island. The tour takes about 1.5 hours in total including a stop to look around Spirit Island. Our guides Scott and Kai were great. This attraction can get quite busy and they sell the boats to... More

Every thing on line said they were sold out, but if you go there they do reserve some availability. Well worth the drive to find out. It's a very relaxing lake ride and the guide is full of stories and history. You can sit inside or stand aft for better pictures. The area views are breathtaking with the high light... More

We had expected a sedate cruise around the edges of the lake but we were treated to a high-speed run down the middle of the lake to Spirit Island. Throughout the trip our Captain, Kat, provided some exciting boating whilst her companion (sorry, forgot her name) gave us an excellent commentary about all aspects of the lake, its geology, its...
