Great hike

Great hike with great views. Went up the short way and long way back down. Trail junctions are a little confusing once you get up near the tree line, but overall a great hike!

The walk up is fairly steady until the end where there is a short but steep and rocky/muddy climb to the top. However it is well worth the lovely views and only a few other people, unlike the hills with gondolas. I was warm walking up, but the weather soon came in, hid the view, and it started snowing and... We loved this hike. Took the short cut up, but the ageing knees dictated the gentle way back. The panorama from the top is magnificent, well worth the effort.

The walk up is easy to moderate. The main pathway is a wide gravel trail until you get to the final stage before the summit, where it is a more normal narrow trail. As you get part of the way up (approximately a third of the way), there is a shorter, but steeper route to the left of the trail.... More

Whilst we didn't hike all the way to the top of bald hills, its was getting dark, the view you get from the lookout point compared to the length and terrain of the hike, its a little disappointing. Mainly due to the fact that the evergreen trees are just a little too tall for great views. Its a problem we... More

We hiked almost to the top of the Bald Hills, from our viewpoint we could see all of Maligne Lake. The hike was a wide gravel path, it was good footing, but definitely was uphill the whole way. The view was so worthwhile.

It is worth the steady uphill walk on the wide path to get to the top. Along the way we saw amazing snow capped mountains, but at the Maligne Lake lookout it was spectacular. It had been raining in Jasper, and we could still see the dark grey clouds over the town and along the valley we had driven, but... More

We started out on this hike and took the shortcut that many others recommend... steeper but more interesting than walking up the fire road. We took the fire road all the way back. We went earlier in the day (i.e., around 9 am) so there was not as many people on the trail. Hiking poles helped get up the steepest... More

Most enjoyable long day hike we did in the Jasper area with great views of Maligne Lake and surrounding mountains. Once you reach the top of the first of the Bald Hills (we took a steep path up on skree but later found an easier path) there is a trail along the edge along another two peaks with fantastic views....
