What a great store. An expansive array of sandwiches made to order and very reasonably priced lobster rolls for a decently packed sandwich. Really pretty area of picnic tables under a pergola on the hill or down by the barn/store. Be sure to stop in to the barn for the gift shop, local artists work and other items.

A great little general store for Southport Island. I wouldn't get a large amount of things here, it is a little pricey but again is the only shop on the island so its understandable. The specialty items are why you go here. The ice cream is great, the breakfast pizza is to die for, and they actually have a very wide/varied wine selection too. A good spot to stop for some essentials for sure. Everyone who works there was very kind, talkative and helpful.

Used to stop for drinks and chips before going to the beach. This last time we got a sandwich. It was delicious. Ham/ cheese/lettuce/tomato. Very good bread. Now we will get lunch there each time we go which is often. Love the roped off part so you are 6 feet away. Very nice people.

How to start. Traveling with my wife who is in a power wheelchair and her service dog we arrived at the store on a Tuesday morning to shop and perhaps get a coffee. From the car we could see no ramp to the store. But as I got out of the car I saw a ramp on the side of the barn (the gift store).. But now to get to the ramp we had to cross about 10 feet of crushed stone. When my wife started the wheels dug into the stone. With the help of another shopper we pushed the chair through the stone to the ramp. Ascending the ramp the small porch (much smaller than required) had a door that opened up into a storage room and not the store So rolling back down the ramp we again dug into the stones and with the help of anther shopper we pulled my wife back onto the pavement. At this point I am really upset. I go into the gift shop to ask for a manager and was told to go to the other store. Upon entering the store the sales clerk yells something like your dog can’t come in here.. I retort it’s a service dog And I would like to speak to the manager outside. Waiting outside I here “Sir” coming from the window. So we had the conversation through a window.
In essence I was told they did not need a ramp since they were a “seasonal” establishment….the owners had been grandfathered when ADA passed, when asked did’t they care that people with disabilities couldn’t shop at there store? Here she simply said “You’ld have to talk to the owners. When asked about the ramp she said “that’s for employees only and not meant as an entrance” but there was no sign to this affect. I will admit I was very upset and telling her I would file with ADA over this. Well in summary, quality of store—never got in, quality of coffee- ditto above.. Employees, somewhat rude and uniformed re needs of persons with disabilities, seemingly uncaring that persons like my wife cannot get into either store. Finally, in most establishments upon seeing a person who is handicapped is unable to gain access there is an immediate apology. Not the case here. So if you are wheelchair bound don’t bother coming to this country store. Stay in Booth Bay harbor.

I went to this store several times. The first day my daughter bought a cold brew coffee beverage but forgot to check the expiration date before we left the store. It said best by February 2021 and we were there in June of 2021. I think this is inexcusable to have such old products. Also, we got sandwiches there two days. My daughter and husband got the avocado toast, which they liked. However, on the second day I got a cheese sandwich with tomato. There was ONE slice of cheese. That is ridiculous. I have never in my life received a sandwich from a deli with one slice of cheese.

We stopped by for a quick lunch before biking around the island. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere very quaint.

We have been going here for many years when we vacation at Ocean Gate. They have major newspapers usually around eight am, depending on when the delivery gets into BBH and is brought here.

There is a full deli, including pizza (bacon pizza!) and their prepared specialties. They have a small but good selection of wines and all your groceries. They also have all the little items you might need, it is a bit of a cross between a small hardware store and a small drugstore in terms of sundries. Even if you don't need anything just stop in and check the place out.

Also, every August the Fire Department has their auction next door, get there early, it is not to be missed!

Nice little store! They offer a pretty diverse menu for a grocery store, including lobster rolls, fresh pizza, and deli sandwiches. There's also a large stock of locally made jams and jellies and honey, as well as liquor and all basics. It's a great place to sit outside and eat on a sunny day.

Sandwiches are fine with a good selection of ingredients, very convenient. Lobster roll had very small bits of cut or pulled meat, one with more than the other and toasted bun showed no signs of either butter or toasting. Not up to comparison with other nearby general stores or lobster shacks.

Love this place! In addition to all the glowing reviews, I'll add don't miss - Burger Fridays, Breakfast Pizza, homemade pies, fabulous soups, local crafts, gifts and art in the Gift Barn (better prices too than in Boothbay) & great coffee.
Grab a lunch and head down Beach Road for a repast with light house views - priceless!!
