Athabasca river is definitely one of the places you must see during your trip to Jasper. I saw it briefly when returning from a wildlife tour (with Sundog shuttle service) and I returned back on foot by taking the old fort point trail down to the riverfront.

It is a very relaxing spot, if you're looking for a place to just sit for awhile and enjoy nature. I went on a Tuesday in October, so there wasn't too many people around... Making it feel like my own little personal serenity.

Would highly recommend taking the trip on foot from the city or booking a tour through Athabasca falls. It's definitely worth the visit.

Every time I am in Jasper I love going to the stops along the river. Enjoy sitting on the bank, listening to the water, watching the kayaks and white water rafts go by. Take a good book and enjoy. The cabins look amazing and I am going to book for my next trip.

We had a wonderful time rafting on this River! We were guided and didn't do anything but sit there and get wet occasionally! The water is freezing - so if you don't want to get wet - take a poncho when it's offered. I wanted to get wet and it felt great when I did. There are so many great photo ops on this 10-mile rafting adventure. Do it!

Athabasca River is the longest river in Alberta after Peace River (from BC to Alberta). The source of the river is in Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies. We saw only a part of this 1231 km long river. In some places, it's quite a beauty with the Rockies on the background

We drove down 93A and the Athabasca River was along side the road. It is a clear river that has many twist and turns. You won't need to stop to see this as it runs along side the highway.

First time for me to experience a river raft ride. Was hesitant because of the rapids, but this experience was just right for me ((72 year old, female). The guides were experienced and thorough in assuring our safety; we were suited with life vests and ponchos, then entering and exiting the float was demonstrated and assisted and safety provisions were explained in the boat too. Most the 10 mile trip along the Athabasca River was leisurely and calm with a few easy sets of rapids in which the guide warned us to hold on and brace ourselves. It was a comfortable ride, with the guide narrating along the way, information about the views and places. We even saw some deer along the river shoreline. It is important for one to research the different offerings of raft rides and the classes of rapids on those rides before making a reservation to participate. This excursion offered by Globus was just right for me!

We stayed at a wonderful cabin right along the Athabasca River. A beautiful site to wake up to in the morning and walk along its overflowing banks in the evening.

This major river was in flood when we were there. Each tributary has a different colour, but the overall river is brown with the spring runoff. The river is in view almost anywhere once goes in the national park.

We took the raft ride down the Athabasca River. I would not recommend it for October. Our raft handler was wonderful, but we were frozen. Our tour guide met us at the other side with warm towels, but they didn't stay warm long. Scenery was nice, rapids were strong enough for a thrill and a splash.
