THIS IS ABOUT THE CENTER, NOT THE ICE EXPLORER ADVENTURE. FOR THAT, SEE SEPARATE REVIEWS CALLED COLUMBIA ICEFIELD GLACIER ADVENTURE. The Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Center is the BUILDING across from Athabasca Glacier. This is where you buy tickets for the ice explorer ride on the glacier (or better yet, on line in advance from Brewster Tours). The building has... More

What an experience. A bus takes you from the Discovery Centre to the edge of the glacier where you get on a special ice vehicle to travel over the glacier itself. Once the vehicle stops at an appointed place, you can get out and walk on the glacier. Truly amazing. Good selection of food in the cafe here too. You... More

I love this! We stay at the hotel where the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre is located. The bus took us across the street to the other side where we got onto the Big glacier mobile that took us into the ice road. The glacier bus is humongous! The wheel alone is about 6 feet tall. One the super big... More

The terrain around the glacier looks other-worldly - very stark and brown. -- very unique! Purchase your tickets across the road from the glacier and either walk to the edge of where the glacier stops or take 10 minute ride on a special glacier bus to actually walk on the glacier itself. After a 15-20 minute stay everyone is loaded... More

Short trip from the Discovery center by bus then special ice vehicles take you onto the glacier. Need to rug up because it is cold and the wind blows We did this trip as a package deal which I recommend also.

The Glaziers are disappearing rapidly, so if you want to see them do it soon. We toured the Ice Field Parkway over several days - yes some experiences are 'expensive' but remember this is a limited season and probably a once in a lifetime experience....Do it while you can.

Don't leave Jasper without a visit here. Its simply a treat for your eyes. Its not just snow that u get to see here but glacial ice that u can never imagine. Make sure u carry a good warm jacket, gloves and shoes if u wish to walk around the place. Its windy and cold even during the day. The... More

The point of this place is mostly to sell incredibly over-priced food and to sell ridiculously expensive "excursions". If you're hoping to merely stop, use the bathroom, hopefully pick up SOMETHING about the park (honestly, print off all those materials you find online that you might want, because they aren't available at the park), and maybe grab a bite to... Our family of four (2 adults and two kids, ages 7 and 10) were able to squeeze in a repeat visit to the icefields this year while visiting Jasper and Banff. We made it a couple days before the centre closed for the season and well worth the effort Our last visit was 4 years ago. This year, our tour bus... More
