About
The majestic Legislature is one of the most iconic buildings in Edmonton and a must see when you are in the city! Built in 1912, in the Beaux Arts style, the Legislature is the seat of the government in the province. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guides are always pleased to take you on a tour and introduce you to Alberta's legislative process. Just north of the Legislature, you will find the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre. The centre is home to the Borealis Gallery, Pehonan Theatre, Agora Interpretive Centre and Capital Gifts shop. The Legislature site is a hub of activity throughout the year, the grounds being some of the most beautiful and picturesque in the area.

Positive And Educational Experience
Sep 2021 • Friends
The tour guy was very knowledgeable and respectful. I went with a friend and we had a wonderful time. The tour was a good length and quite interactive. I would go again. I only have positive things to say about this experience.

Great amount of time for the tour

The staff were very professional and knowledgeable. My group had people with disabilities and the staff always made sure we were in the group before they started talking. We enjoyed the tour.

Fun stories
Aug 2021
The tour of the legislature is very well done. The guide had lots of interesting stories about the building and it’s inhabitants over the years. Great way to understand our history.

Lovely Capital Building!
Jun 2021
My son had won a small award and been to this impressive Legislature Building pre-Covid. We planned to stay in our province and visit Edmonton. After all these years of shamefully just going to the West Edmonton Mall, my son took us to the capital's beautiful grounds. There are no tours due to Covid- same as the Federal Building, His friend, who was a former minister had explained to him the various offices- who is housed there etc.

His friend said other years there were usually more flowers and they had also shut down the lovely fountains on the grounds. It was a very hot few days and the coolness of the fountains would have been welcome.

All in all a relaxing and informative afternoon. And by the way, my son recognized the Justice Minister walking by and said a quick hello to him!

Nice place to visit as an outdoor activity

I visited the legislature building over the Christmas Holidays. There are some nice walking paths around the building. There was also music on the grounds which kept things festive.

Great outdoor Photo stop and spot for a leisurely walk
May 2020
The grounds surrounding the legislature building are kept up very well. Much of the area is grassed in with walking paths around the entire area. Both the legislature building itself and the surrounding grounds are ideal for photography - I often see wedding groups having photos taken.
During summer an outdoor wading pool is available for kids.

The legislative grounds are always a lovely place to walk.

I hadn't had a walk around the legislative grounds since I was 18, sooo... a very long time ago. But the other day I need some place to go to walk my chihuahuas while waiting for a friend. Even in the slush of an almost Spring day, it was a peaceful walk, friendly faces, beautiful architecture - just lots to admire even if you don't like the Alberta premiere! I live here and don't even know who it is, what party, what they stand for... I just want to walk, move, be aware, find beauty in everything... I haven't been inside since I was probably 14 and on a field trip, but I do remember it was impressive!

Fun night at New Years Eve! Amazing lights during the holidays. Has nice restraunts near, also coffee shops along Jasper Ave. Can tour the Legislature, so check hours it is open. Nice area to bring kids to play in the water in the summer.
