About
For more than 80 years, Edmonton’s Blatchford Field was the center of a bustling aviation community that spurred the growth of the city, the region, and the North. Hundreds of men and women let their dreams take flight from this historic airfield, flying everything from biplanes to bush planes, bombers to jets. The museum, located in the last remaining double-long, double-wide hangar from the World War II era, is committed to keeping that aviation heritage alive by sharing their stories, offering education programs, and providing new and exciting opportunities for families to explore Edmonton’s rich aviation history.

If your kids love planes they will love this place. Not huge but just right with flight simulators the kids can try (no extra charge). Small gift shop as well. I'd say plan on less than 2 hrs to roam.

I enjoyed my visit to the aviation museum. Lots of interesting civil and military aircraft and associated memorabilia on display. A special thanks to Rick, one of the volunteers who showed us around. It really made my visit extra informative and interesting

Didnt expect much when we walked there from our hotel Best western plus. But what a place! Unbelivable cool volunteers with great knowledge that greeted us and walked around showing us the really cool modell and real planes in the museum ! Worth every penny and then some! What a gem to find here! A lit of really cool planes from early canadian history up through the wars! Loved it so much!

Came in on a Tuesday, and it wasn't busy at all which was perfect as I enjoy reading the signs and placards. The exhibits are well done and you can tell the volunteers take pride in everything they do.
We even got a tour of the restoration area where they have quite a few aircraft that will be ready in a few years! Will be back to see those!

This is a most interesting display with numerous aircraft and some replicas, covering a great deal of the aviation history of this part of Canada. It is possible to sit in some of the exhibits, and there are two microsoft static flight simulators. The staff were very helpful, and one gave us almost a guided tour on a quiet morning. Some of the displays were undergoing repair, but overall well worth a visit.

Okay this is so amazing I can't believe it took me so long to go!! Why they call it an aviation museum is beyond me!! There is so much to see and so much to do and it is fun and interesting and I would recommend that everyone that lives here should go to it!! It is really low cost to get in and you have to see the cars, old and restored vehicles and then go over across the field to the aviation museum and see the planes!! There is even some planes you can sit in and play in and learn how to move things in a cockpit. I was so surprised with all the stuff and it looks so small outside. Again, comfortable shoes as it is spread out a little bit - not too bad. Good food too at good prices - and what an amazing gift shop!! They have the best stuff - not just museum stuff but fashionable stuff and really great gifts. You must go even if you are not into planes. The old cars, trucks and lots and lots of old farm equipment - I can't even recall but I do remember thinking why doesn't anyone tell everyone how great this place is??

This place is run by volunteers, and it shows. There are some beautifully restored aircraft spanning the whole history of aviation, which will delight real enthusiasts. But for families, there's not much going on, most of the exhibits are 'do not touch', we couldn't find any refreshments, and its a little dark and dusty. Its very cheap to get in, so its worth coming for a short visit to see the planes, but don't expect to make a day of it.

Part of the museum was closed due renovation. It is good hangout if you want to bring along kids. It is funded by the ticket sale and private contributions, and it shows the struggle to survive.
