Brutal testosterone-filled tough-cop-wanna-be bouncers
Nov 2019 • Friends
This was the worst experience in our lives! The bouncers target people who they don’t like the look of and follow them around making accusations of causing trouble. They do not listen to common sense and have absolutely no people skills. How does this place stay in business!?!The bouncers are abusive, the staff rip people off by making them pay extra fees and they overcharge for drinks ...and expect big tips! We will NEVER go to this place again.

Awful venue
Nov 2019
I can't believe it! Racism exists at Cowboys! Just because we are from a different ethnic background we were treated bad there. The bouncer didn't like the way we looked and kicked us out... after we paid $10 to get in. Unbelievable!! We were not causing any trouble and we were so embarrassed. It ruined my club experience! Why follow us around and come up with some lies to kick us of the club? Go after the real troublemakers!

Stampede Rip off
Jul 2019 • Friends
I agree with Toby W. review, just below mine!!! What a horrible experience.....over priced drinks. The couple drinks we bought at $9.50 each for cans of booze. The terminal asks if you would like to tip 18% or 20%!!! Not a chance! I didn’t tip one employee there the night I was there. No one gave me exceptional service or even great service. It was terrible. The Porto Potty bathrooms had soap but NO water. An employee was filling the water stations up and a guy came but an put his soapy hands in a bucket and she completely lost it on him! So rude. People where trying to have sex in the bathrooms too! We couldn’t get close to the stage and there where fights breaking out in the crowd. It was hot and over crowded. It’s got to be a fire hazard to have so many people there. And a health hazard to not have water in the bathrooms. I know it will not make or break Cowboys to lose me as a customer, but I will just NEVER go back.

Do not buy event tickets in advance
Jul 2019 • Friends
The Stampede Cowboys Tent is unaccomodating, and had rude staff. We purchased tickets in advance for an event through Showpass. The girl scanning tickets said our tickets were not valid even though we were 3 hours early for the actual event time start. There is a time limit for their purchased tickets and once we got there, they asked us to pay $35 per person on top of the $50 Showpass tickets that were purchased.

Do not purchase event tickets ahead of time, it is not necessary because they will accept payment at the venue. Or in this case, make you pay for online tickets in advance and force you to pay another $35 for an entrance fee on top of that.

Avoid the Cowboys tent during the Stampede.

Horrible venue
Jul 2019 • Friends
Do not spend your money here! We are locals. We support small local business. I will NEVER enter this establishment again.

We paid $80 each for concert tickets to see two of our favourite artists last night. Doors open at 5pm, the booths with drinks open at 5:30pm, and everyone is crammed into a small section of the tent while they setup for the shows. The ticket says 7pm start, which is a lie, the opener for the opener starts at 7:30pm. At 9pm the opener comes on, and at 10:30 the headliner enters. This is all based on hearing bands, not seeing them, because when you have 6000 16/17/18 year olds drunk, disrespectful, rude, aggressive, and looking to get laid, there is no way you will even get close to the stage.

In the meantime, before the show begins, you can order a $9.50 drink from the bar. Usually in the form of a can of beer, or a cider, and after 7 they don't accept cash if you want change, only debit/credit.

There are a couple food trucks with mediocre carnival food, at a hefty price, and the washrooms are porta potty style usually without toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or soap/water anywhere.

As for the show we paid for? We heard Eli Young Band. I recognize the songs and sang along from way on the other side of a massive crowd but I didn't actually 'see' them. The other artist and the reason I so desperately wanted to go? Brett Eldredge. He never comes to Canada so we were super excited. I saw him, sneaking into the side door from outside as we were leaving the venue. I heard him, from the street. I could have done that for free.

I would save your money!! Do NOT go with the hopes to have an enjoyable experience, because you won't.

Stampede rip off
Jul 2018 • Couples
We went to Cowboys last night and were happy to pay the cover charge as it is Stampede. Then we go and order 2 we’ll drinks and the charged us $$ 9.50 per drink. The tall female bartender then used a jigger to measure the alcohol and fills it 3/4 of the way full. She takes my $ 20 bill and never rings up the drinks. Later I go back to the same bar and she short pours again and does not ring the drinks up. So the bar is ripping off customers by inflating prices during Stampede and the the bartenders are ripping off the customers by short pouring then the bartenders are ripping off Cowboys by not ringing in the drinks. This bar is in a Licensed Casino and the AGLC should look into these deceptive practices. Visiting Calgary for Stampede? Avoid this place. They are not reflective of this great city

THIS BAR NOT FOR ME
Feb 2018 • Friends
This bar is loud, expensive and service is brutal. I would never go there again. This is for the very young crowd. There is absolutely nothing good about this bar and would give it less than one if it were permitted.

The nerve- asking for Canadian beer
Jul 2017 • Business
We were part of a large business function that books Cowboys' tent every year, and so we went down the Thursday before Stampede officially opened to soak up a little pre-event ambience. Unfortunately, if you want a true Calgary Stampede experience, you will have to look elsewhere.
This part of the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", situated just off the grounds, should be proudly Calgarian and Canadian, but you wouldn't know it when you go to order a beer. All sponsorships and kickbacks aside, shouldn't Cowboys be serving Canadian beer, even just one? I went through a few stalwart brands, and was told no to each one. When I finally asked what Canadian beers were available, I was told "none."
I don't mind the expense, the indifferent food, or even the ear-splitting noise, but when you can get the same fare at any rodeo south of the border, why stay in town?

Stampede visit
Jul 2017 • Friends
Ridiculous pricing for entrance. I spent a lot of money to get in and on drinks and was disappointed. One of the bartenders Devin P was extremely rude. I understand it's stampede but will not be coming back due to his attitude. I have told friends to go elsewhere.
