Based in Calgary, Canada, Spruce Meadows is the brainchild of the Southern family who built a Show Jumping complex at the foothills of the Alberta Rocky Mountains. It was in 1976 that the first Spruce Tournaments were held, with annual spectator attendances reaching over 50,000 by the end of the decade. Today, Spruce Meadows boasts one of the greatest outdoor equestrian venues in the world and offers an incredible experience for riders and fans alike. Spruce Meadows focuses on the organization and hosting of show jumping tournaments of unmatched quality for junior, amateur and professional athletes in a manner that reflects basic family values in a clean, green and welcoming environment that celebrates the horse and encourages the breeding and training of quality sport horses and the teaching and development of athletes.

Being from the coast of BC it is a pleasure to see the rolling hills of Spruce Meadows. Gorgeous groomed grounds. The building in which we participated at a sewing and scrapbooking show is a indoor equestrian ring. Be prepared for the smell of horse urine in the wooden floors. You get used to it. Temperatures can be too warm... More

My weekend away morphed into a family holiday, and I couldn't be happier! If you're at all interested in horses this is a venue that has everything, and the $5.00 entrance fee means it's affordable as well. I've been coming to Spruce Meadows every September for a number of years and it continues to impress. See you all again next... More

I have been coming to Spruce Meadows since it was founded. It is the epitome of inclusiveness. The horse shows are a great (affordable) treat for families and horse lovers. They encourage people to come and visit year round. And like the late RD Southern would say,"The coffee pot is on."

If you are interested in horses and the equestrian world this is a great place to visit. We visited SM for two days during the Masters Tournament. All seats have a good view. We had seats in the grand stand which are more comfortable than the bench seating. There is not a lot to do other than watching the tournaments... More

Spruce Meadows is a world renowned venue that has popularised equestrian sports and competition here in southern Alberta for many years. The venue is family-friendly, parking is nearby and well guided and the food is good ! An excellent 'day out' for the entire family. Yes, you can watch it on TV, but the difference made by the sights and... More

It was such a wonderful experience attending The Masters at Spruce Meadows. My first time here, I was taken aback at the beauty of the surroundings and the professional high equestrian standards. It was a lovely way to spend a day wandering through the barns, visiting the horses, speaking to the vendors outside, watching the internationally acclaimed horse jumping competition,... More

Rated as one of the best show jumping facilities in the world and a gem that Calgary should be proud of. Often victimized by inclement weather but more than outside attractions during horse show season
