This park is a wonderful place to a family walk or picnic. The park was heavily damages during the flood of 2013. It is now fully restored and better than ever. The lagoon is up and running. If you are thinking of renting a canoe or paddle boat, go for the canoe. The paddle boats are a complete waste of... More

Basically grew up at Bowness Park. Love the bow on the north side. Water on the south side. Great place to spend the day with family. Just within the city limits. The fun part is always trying to find a parking spot. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.

I've never counted, but I would be surprised if Calgary had a park with more picnic capacity than Bowness Park. And what a stunning location as a bonus... quiet, near water, big, mature trees, and lots of facilities. While picnicking is basically a free activity, some of the other attractions are not free, but some aren't that pricey. You can... More

I have been coming to Bowness Park since 1990. It's so beautiful and relaxing. Picnic, take a stroll, take a ride on the paddle boats. So many things to do here. I miss the road around the park. Many memories from my younger and now enjoying the park with my kids. Hopefully they enjoy it with theirs one day.

...extensive work in the park is getting to its end: the park is back to us who needed it. This place is magic and real; no disappointment here! Welcome, friend!

Really nice park with lots of picnic spots. What used to be the road around the park is now a wide walking path. The park is nicely fixed up since the flood 3 years ago. If you want to go to a picnic site at the other end of the park, it's a long walk. Fine for me but not... More

To start with, a very nice experience of urban hiking!!! Although we visited the park by transit bus, parking area could be seen near the park entrance. Just as we entered the park from 48th avenue NW, there's a lagoon (good for Duck and Geese watching and boating- boat centre operated by Univ of Calgary) and as soon as you... More

There is so much to offer here -- winter skating - summer picnics. We had family pictures taken here a few years ago. Beautiful!

We've pretty much seen the whole of Calgary and this has to be our favourite spot within city limits especially on a sunny day. Excellent with little kids with two playgrounds, great for bbq'ing and a lovely walk by the river. I take my 3 year old and let her throw pebbles into the blue river, she loves it and... More
