I work for a tour company and we often take our guests on a Calgary Food Tour. The guides are some of the best in the industry and the tours immerse you into the culture, history and storytelling of Alberta. This company goes above and beyond for all guests and I would highly recommend their tours when visiting Alberta!

Thank you! We are so honoured to partner with you and that very special tour company you work for. I totally respect their need for privacy given who they are! I'm so glad their guests enjoy the special tours we create for them as much as we enjoy delivering them. Again, it's an honour to work with partners of your caliber as humans and a company! With gratitude, Karen Anderson Founder and CEO Alberta Food Tours, Inc.

Seriously everyone who wants to enjoy downtown Calgary as a tourist needs to do this. We have people from Calgary, LA and Vancouver on our tour. What a great way to grabs bites at some phenomenal eateries, support local business and learn about door and the city. Would do it again for a host of reasons. Karen was our guide and she loves the city and food and was super relaxed. It was one of the best food tours I have done in any city to date. The variety of cuisines was well balanced and got lots of great ideas for other places to eat as well. So worth the money.

Dear Cleema, Thank you for your fantastic review. I can feel the energy you enjoyed just reading it. I will share it with our guide Karen Lewin - you are right, she loves the city and one year she won the Calgary Whitehatter Award for Best Tour Guide. We are so proud of her and what she brings to the fun of hosting our tours. I'm also thrilled you loved the variety and tastings of our treasured partners. Please come back and see us again in Calgary, Canmore, Banff or Edmonton. With gratitude, Karen Anderson President and CEO, Alberta Food Tours, Inc.

we took the Calgary Food Tour on the last day of our weekend in Calgary. It was very enjoyable, but there was a bit of walking. And it was quite hot for Calgary. Each stop provided something to eat, and a bit of a story to go along with it. Pizza, macarons, Korean, Indian fried chicken...and creme brulee to top it off at the end. We certainly weren't hungry for dinner when we were done. Karen the guide was very knowledgeable about Calgary cuisine, and Calgary history in general. The only dud was the stop at the beer store. We had a small taste, but I don't think it added a whole lot to the tour. And the pizza at CIBO was amazing...I would have been happy if we just stayed there the entire time. A fun afternoon, I would highly recommend it

Dear ricjo524, Thank you so much for your detailed review and for highly recommending our Savour 17 SW food tour. I will share your comments with Karen. She'll be thrilled. We know not everyone loves beer but the craft beer movement is on fire here right now and so we feel it is important to include. Thanks for being a good sport and for loving all the other stops so much. Please come back and try our other tours in Kensington, Inglewood and the Calgary Farmers' Market. With gratitude, Karen Anderson, President and CEO, Alberta Food Tours, Inc.

Barbara was an excellent tour guide. We enjoyed hearing from the different chefs about their particular niche as well as the overall operations of such a large and grand property. The food and alcohol pairings were terrific. Don’t eat before your tour - you will come away very full!

A great way to spend a day in Calgary. The food and drinks were delicious, with a good variety of flavors. Our guide was well versed at the history of the area as well as that of each restaurant. We had time to enjoy and visit, yet moved along at a good pace. A very easy walk. What a great gift this was.
We would do it again!

I really enjoyed this tour. I've been on many food tours, but I liked just how varied the food stops were - Indian, Korean, Creme Brulee... it really was so diverse.

I probably wouldn't have visited this part of town if I wasn't on the tour, so was great to see the area and learn more about it too.

The fun and flavor started when we met the group at Charbar. The extraordinary burger, the delicious libations and the fascinating National Music Centre all contributed to the memorable tour...It was a great time in an up-and-coming part of a dyanmic city. It was also great meeting the interesting people taking part in the tour, from all around the world.

Karen and her partner led our group on the perfect culinary tour along 17th Avenue this past Saturday. Most of us on the tour live in Calgary, yet we knew so little about the places and people that make up this incredible part of the city. Connecting wonderful stories to venues, Karen our host set the perfect scene for a scrumptious afternoon. Couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our dear friend's birthday.
Biggest surprise ~ Bison tartar. Extraordinary.
The restaurant I will return to first? Cibo.
Best energy exuded by? Alex, at ITZA bakeshop. She was awesome.

As a resident of Calgary, I've dashed into the Plaza theatre in Kensington on many an occasion, but have never taken the time to explore the neighbourhood's many shops and cafes. The Craving Kensington tour seemed a perfect way to check out what I've been missing, with the help of a knowledgeable host.

And what a host, Karen proved to be! Her insight and passion for Calgary's burgeoning food scene was clearly evident, as was her genuine relationship with the vendors and their community. The tour began with a brief historical intro to Calgary to provide a context for the neighbourhood, and included background on some of the architectural gems that still exist in Kensington. The chosen venues provided a well-balanced mix of offerings (see website for details), and the vendors were welcoming and knowledgeable and generous with their food and drink.

This is not an inexpensive tour, but each of the venues is paid for its products (no free samples), and given the prices in Calgary and the quality of the offerings, I believe the tour is good value. The relaxed pace provided plenty of time to converse with the vendors and with my fellow foodies.

I discovered some new "go-to" food destinations in Calgary and have since returned to them for more of their tasty offerings and unique accessories. This is an excellent tour for both locals and visitors - I've recommended it to my friends and plan to add it to the "to-do" list of my out-of-town visitors.

Thank you so much for your thorough review. It's a dream come true to hear that you are returning to our vendor partners and supporting their businesses. You are keeping our culinary scene thriving. Thank you again and we'll hope to see you again some time. Cheers, Karen

The food was pretty good, the tour of Banff Springs was good. But alcoholic drinks Are Not Included as described on this site. The description on TripAdvisor is incorrect, this is fraud in my opinion. We paid $175 CAD for essentially $80 worth of food and a tour of the castle. Way overpriced for what you get. Do not recommend at all.

Dear rpX8141VN, Thank you for your review. Let me address your concerns to the best of my ability. You are talking about our Eat the Castle tour at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff. I am not sure when you booked or took your tour. In August of this year, we found out that the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission does not allow for companies like ours to sell liquor as part of our tour price. Guests can buy liquor directly from a licensed venue but we cannot get in the middle of that. At that time, I removed all mention of alcohol from our site. Our site only mentions non-alcohol and spirit-free beverage pairings. We worked with all our partners in the province to make sure all beverages we serve are hand-crafted and culinary. They are delicious and of the highest quality. I am not sure if this change happened between the time that you booked (where it might have mentioned alcohol?) and when you took your tour? If it did, please accept my heartfelt apologies that your experience did not meet with what you were expecting. If you had contacted me directly - using the card all our guides give out at the end of each tour - I would have been able to address your concerns directly and compensated you as best I could. I am grieved to hear that you would not recommend the tour for the special attention received from the chefs, the chance for a hands-on experience in the kitchen, our guides knowledge and story-telling ability, and the amazing quality of the locally-sourced and made-from-scratch food. Tourism Canada has designated this tour as a Canadian Signature Experience and most guests truly enjoy each moment. I feel guests reading a description of the tour on the website will honestly get exactly what we describe. Again, I apologize if you got caught in between the description change. With gratitude for your time and the opportunity for clarification, Karen Anderson President and CEO Alberta Food Tours, Inc
