My one night in Calgary to do something touristy while on a work trip so I chose the Calgary tower. When I get there it says “closed due to unforeseen circumstances”. Fail. Epic fail.

Is there a way the tower can be renovated to have the observation deck above the skyscrapers? Currently the view is obstructed to the East by all those tall buildings ☹️

Lucked out on a clear day. Enjoyed the elevator ride! Gift shop had some unique items. Worth the price of admission just to view the Rockies! Fabulous!

We went for lunch. The salmon was cooked perfectly and we highly recommend the creme brulee. It wasn't busy, so service was excellent. We will go back again next visit.

$19 to go up, it's a must for visitors to the city. Breathtaking views and a glass floor at the top to set your heart racing. Loved it.

A beautiful place to start a visit in downtown Calgary. Besides it is a old place, it is renovated and offers a beautiful city view. One part has a glass floor where you could walk in and see the ground and how hight you are.

We were staying at the hotel across the street from the tower and decided we would take a trip to the top for something to do during the day. It was a very cold(-17) crisp day and the view was stunning! There are no windows...More

I don't think you get free parking as you are only allowed about 20 to 30 minutes on the street outside but you have to pay to park

About 30 minutes by car. The Tower is in the middle of downtown Calgary; while the airport is in the far northeast quadrant of the city.

Good day. You seem to be packing an incredible amount of driving into a very short time frame. I will address question #1, as that's what I'm most familiar with: You would need to set aside five hours (at least) to drive from Calgary to Jasper, and another five hours to drive back. For comparison, it would be like driving from Miami to Atlanta and back for a day trip (I'm guessing you're from Florida so I'm trying to use a local example), except that it's mountain driving so you'll be...More
Sightseeing in two days? (6 Replies)
Hi guys, Our September Rockies tour finishes in Calgary, at the airport. We would like to say on for a couple of days and do a little sightseeing. I have got information and plan to do the following sightseeing: Downtown and Beltline. Heritage Park Historical Village. Military Museums. Calgary Tower. After all that culture, a little retail therapy at Chinook Centre or somewhere similar. We wil be intend to stay downtown and I understand the city centre is compact and walkable. We are in...More

Your plans might be a bit too ambitious for 2 days. You might be able to fit it all in, but you might not. I'd prioritize your list and plan to go to your "must see" places first and then see how you are doing time wise for the lower priority places. I would recommend spending some time in the Kensington area and the Beltline instead of Downtown and the Beltline. With your 2 day timeline you could also do your retail therapy at The Core mall downtown if it is closer to your hotel and other...More
