With all the snow Calgary get's in the winter, most parks have less to do during that season. Some, like Prince's Island, do a great job of keeping the pathways cleared so at least you can get a good walk in on a visit there, as we did recently. The east side is a bit wilder, and birds love the storm water ponds which remain open all winter. There is a very pricey restaurant in the middle of the park, and there are decent indoor public washrooms located in the lower level. The west end has the outdoor stage that is used for the many summer festivals that take place here. A sure bet for tranquility any time of year!

I was on an errand downtown, and had a chance to walk through Prince's Island Park. The main bridge connecting the Park with downtown, close to the Sheraton and the Eau Claire Market, has been closed for repair/replacement by the City. Apparently the entire park area in front of the Sheraton is going to be refurbished, but I haven't seen any plans. With the downtown pretty empty and still not warm, it won't be a concern, but on busy warm days, it could make trying to get onto the island a bit tight, so COVID distancing might be a challenge. Still a great place to visit, especially when it's not so busy.

We had such a peaceful visit coming here! There's paid parking available across the road, and a small bridge connecting the two together make it great for a leisure walk. There's cute little sculptures around the park, so see if you can find them along your trail! Plenty of benches to rest on, so you can also watch the cute little ducks waddle around or maybe a squirrel climb a tree. All in all, this was a great stop to smell the roses as some would say.

Walked down to the park on recommendation to visit the cafe. The last few hundred yards traversed a building site and on the island itself large sections were fenced off. To make it a total waste of time the cafe was closed for a private function. The island, the parts you could see, seemed quite nice but not worth much of a detour.

There is quite a bit of construction going on right now along the river and on the way to the park, but there are many signs directing you where to walk to get around it all.
We walked over a bridge and to the little island to walk around there, and then back towards the opposite side. It's quite beautiful, and very well maintained. The paths are marked well and there are so many trees and lots of park benches to sit and have a rest or look out at the river. Many people are out on scooters, walking, biking, and running. It's quite nice.
There are public washrooms on the island and a Cafe as well. We only wished that the water fountains worked. Hopefully they can fix that.

Prince's Island Park is a beautiful place all year. In winter, the paths are cleared nicely of snow, so it's mainly for strolling and letting the little ones run around. In the rest of the year, it has everything you want from a park. Places to walk and play, playground equipment, flowers, huge trees, a lagoon, birds and squirrels, a great, but albeit expensive restaurant, and a fascinating natural area on the east side. I don't know when the new bridge will be done but many Calgarians will be very thankful when it is, as access from the south is currently only from a narrow bridge on the east side, or the wider causeway on the west, not far from the Peace Bridge.

A lovely park where you can walk around, listen to street artists sing, paddle down the lake and see the downtown skyline. There are also play areas of kids. Most of the people were jogging or walking their dogs and it was so calm and soothing and watching the sun set was a dream.

Love how close this park is to the C train and it is so beautiful any time of year but especially in the summer. Located along the bow river it had a great play ground and lots of picnic places. Shakespeare in the park and the folk music festival set ups here through the summer. Take a stroll to nearby eau Claire Market, grab some ice cream and you have yourself the perfect afternoon.

Spent a great couple of hours walking around this beautiful park enjoying the stunning views of the Bow river and well maintained park. The paths were clearly designated for pedestrians and cyclists. As the weather was so glorious we were able to appreciate the various colours of the trees. Our circular walk took in the Peace Bridge

Where is the stage for Canada Day. Which parking lot is closest to that?

Hi there, I am looking for somewhere safe to walk my little dogs because I have heard of the coyote problem in Calgary. This park is surrounded by water so I hope this makes it unlikely they are living there. Are there any coyote in this park?
Written October 12, 2019
No coyote in this park. It is in Downtown area and it is beautiful to walk around. It is cold so check the weather (for you) to dress properly.

I once saw a family driving through the park on a carriage type thing that they were pedaling. Where can I rent one of those?
Written August 3, 2015
Sorry, can’t answer this qu3stion. Perhaps contact the parks authority in Calgary.
Written October 13, 2019
Since the park is huge, there are many neighboring places where you can park your car. You can also drive around the area of Eau Claire or Chinatown, but it won't be free. Parking in downtown Calgary can be expensive thou there are good deals on week-ends when there are no office workers to compete with. You can always leave your car in some free parking lots of the Calgary transit, take the train then enjoy the leisurely walk towards the park. Have fun!
