Stunning views with some lovely ski runs!
We loved our ski days at Lake Louise. We were staying in Banff and the 45 minute easy drive through epic scenery each day was worth it! A nice change from traditional European alpine skiing. Great terrain on both the front and back bowls. And two lovely spots for on mountain dining - Whitehorn Bistro and Sawyer’s Nook! Would highly recommend a trip to Lake Louise Ski Resort - probably my favourite of those resorts closest to Banff.

    Ski Friends Free Tours
I could not recommend jumping on a FREE ski/board tour with Ski Friends, they are a group of volunteers who will show you around the mountain for 2 hours at 10am and 1:15pm from the Whiskey Lodge. Our tour was based on our abilities and our guide Michael thoughtfully crafted a route that took us all around the resort. I did two in one day because I was travelling solo and it was such a great way to see the hill from a local’s eyes.

Excellent tour, breathtaking views, brilliant guide
We had an excellent Christmas Day morning ‘Scenic snowshoe tour’. Mitch, our guide, was a really good guide giving us plenty of information about the history, local nature and trees ( Tree time with Mitch was a highlight!) Mitch also showed us the spectacular view points which allowed us to take some breathtaking pictures. I totally recommend doing this tour, it wasn’t too physically arduous and the guides give plenty of rest time. Thanks Mitch!
Thank you so much for the awesome feedback. We'll pass along your kind words to Mitch and the team!

Lake Louise Ski Resort - Ski Friends Tour
I always take Lake Louise Ski Resort - Ski Friends Tour and have always been happy with it. I had mutiple tours with David, Dave and Kevin this trip and was happy again to ski with someone knowledgeable and passionate about the mountains. Thanks Ski Friends. To take the tour, meet them 15 minutes before 10am or 1:15pm before the lodge near Glacia Express Lift side.
So stoked to hear you had fun with our Ski Friends!

Fun! And relaxed to ski with guides who know the slopes!
It was fun to do the free guided tour with the Ski Hosts Randy and Freddy. We liked it so much that we came back another day and did other tours with Larry, Lary, Dave and Bill! They guide you through all the different slopes in the area based on your skiing skills.
The Ski Friends are amazing!!! We'll pass along your kind words.

A challenging moutain with spectacular views.
My trip to this moutain was during a week where the temperatures were -20 F. So the "snow" was essentially hard packed ice. There were some groomed runs. That being said this is a great resort with spectacular views of the Canadian Rockies and Lake Louise itself. The staff were friendly and the main lodge had the amenities you would expect from a well run ski resort. (The lodge itself was impressive in its design. (rustic wood work.) (Interestingly, the wood used for construction of the lodge and on moutain restaurant was from trees felled while building the chair lift routes).
Yikes, sorry to hear you caught the cold snap! Thank you for your positive feedback regarding our staff and our lodges. Hope to see you back again, conditions are great out there!

    Skiing lessons at Lake Louise
I had Dan C as a ski instructor. He was amazing. I went from nursery slopes to a black diamond in three sessions. Dan made the lessons fun and relaxing. He was kind and patient and instructed in a way that was clear, achievable and such a positive experience. I went from being highly anxious to having an amazing time. Thanks Dan🤗
Woo!!! That is AWESOME to hear. We'll be sure to let Dan know as well. Hope to see you back here soon to keep progressing on the slopes :)

    Lake Louise and Ski Friends
Had an awesome time skiing at Lake Louise. In my eyes the prettiest resort in North America. No lift lines and lots of terrain. I had the chance to ski with the guided tour from ski friends with Ian E. and had an amazing tour. Ian showed me the whole mountain, was very knowledgeable about the history of the resort and trails and was fun to be around. We did blues and some blacks at a great pace for an advanced skier.
Thanks so much!! We'll pass along your kind words to Ian and the Ski Friends.

    Mountain tour
I spent the week in Banff and skied at Lake Louise. I participated in the mountain tours offered for free by the Lake Louise Mountain Friends. This is an amazing service where they have free tours twice a day to help you familiarize yourself with the mountain at every ski level. I highly recommend taking this tour.
Thank you for your positive feedback!

Having recently moved to Banff, my partner and I were looking to try something new on our days off. I love snowshoeing and thought a guided tour would be a great way to introduce him to it so I booked us a half-day Yoho snowshoe tour.
Our original tour was the Lake O’Hara Fire Road but our guide Matt P. made the suggestion of going off the Fire Road and trekking to Ross Lake instead. His expert suggestion really payed off because the snow conditions were perfect and the view was amazing. It was so peaceful out on the trail and relaxing. Also, the hot chocolate break is the best!
Matt was a great guide and super personable. Learning about the area, the flora and fauna and the science of the snow was really interesting. He also shared additional hikes and snowshoes we could try on our own time, which was really useful!
10/10 experience. We would definitely do a guided snowshoe again with Lake Louise and their guides.

We were staying at The Lake Louise Inn over Christmas and wanted to book my son in for some beginner snowboarding lessons. Staff in the booking area were really helpful and booked us in for the, very reasonably priced, first tracks session with ease. Upon arrival for the lesson, the parking attendants were really helpful and friendly, the hire facility staff the same and Brandon, the instructor was amazing. Friendly, calm, skilled and unruffled. My son picked up the boarding really quickly, in no small part down to the excellent tuition. We booked another session with Brandon for my son to snowboard 4 days later and booked for us all to go snow tubing and on the gondola to see the views. Yet another great lesson from Brandon. Then to snow tubing. Wow! Such great fun and amazing value for money. It even included a hot chocolate before we launched down the hill. The trip up in the gondola is definitely worth the money with breathtaking views from the top.
We grabbed lunch in the main lodge. Great prices for great food which considering they have a "captive audience" was a pleasant surprise. Best of all, EVERY member of staff we met, from bus drivers to cafe staff, parking attendants to instructors staff on the snow tubes to those checking the passes were friendly, helpful and well informed. Cannot recommend enough.

Visited Lake Louise for 1 day in January 2022.

Where do I begin. Let's start with the ticketing. They advertise everywhere on their website in big letters "Save up to $20 by pre-purchasing your tickets online at least one day before you arrive." Well, that's what I did, but no matter how many times I tried, it wouldn't let me buy for less than the window price, which is relatively speaking average for a single day ($135 taxes in) I still would have liked to have saved the 20 bucks! If you're not doing it anymore, take it off your website.

The COVID protocols are easily the worst of any hill I've visited thus far. They don't require proof of vaccination to ride the chairlifts, but they require it to go in the day lodges and to ride the gondola. Fair enough...Marmot works like that too. However, as a previous review mentioned, their system for checking at the Gondola is cumbersome and inefficient, and if you visit the lodge, they stamp your hand, which easily smudges off. They are trying to be everything to the vaccinated and unvaccinated, and are failing at both. Pick a lane.

The lift system is decent, but the chairs on the back side could use an upgrade. Both chairs which take you to the front are fixed-grip and very slow. At least they replaced the Summit Platter...nobody misses that thing. I also had two people get snippy with me for riding on the Top of the World chair (a 6-top!) with them as a single. In 32 years of riding, I have never seen that. Made for a really long, awkward ride!

The snow wasn't great...They use a lot of artificial snow on the front side which gets extremely icy once it's been skied out. Save your visits for powder days, otherwise be very careful!

On a positive note, the staff here are all friendly and seem engaged.

I must be missing something here; I hear a lot of people say this is the best resort in Canada, but it doesn't even hit my top 10.

I feel tremendously sorry for the tourists that come from around the world to this shabby ski resort. It is a sophisticated scam they operate misleading with info about temperatures and keeping people waiting half the day before closing due to temperatures. Tourists and locals will sit for more than four hours waiting for the lifts to open and then be told they will close for the day. In the meantime, they will purchase terrible food, drinks, lift tickets, season passes etc. I don’t blame the staff, it’s the greedy owners that should answer for this embarrassment!

Embrace winter by walking across the thick snowpack instead of through it.

We used the Banff Ambassador Program Pass to join the Lake Louise Wildlife Snowshoe Tour for FREE. It was a sunny day with only 2 of us in the group. We were so lucky, our guide Vlad D. was very professional to answer all of questions. Vlad prepared hot chocolate and nut bars for us. It was very thoughtful of him.

It’s an easy hike and we enjoyed the activity so much.

Lake Louise Ski Resort is perfect for beginner to expert skiers. As you can expect, there are many challenging, exciting and varied blue and black runs. Not to worry though as there are plenty of green runs - long, winding and varied. The staff are polite and friendly, from the equipment rental employees to the lift assistants. If you’re skiing alone or new to Lake Louise, I suggest you sign up for ‘Friends of Lake Louise’. This is a free program that has volunteers tour you around the resort at your ski level. My favourite place to ski, by far!!!

We had a great time skiing at Lake Louise ski resort. We purchased the Lake Louise plus card. This seemed to be the best value since you got to ski for free on days 4 and 7 and received 20% discount on full priced lift tickets on the other days plus other discounts. There was a free shuttle to and from the ski resort from Banff (around 45 minutes) and Lake Louise village (around 10 minutes). The shuttle service was excellent with convenient bus stops in Banff. We had an adult “first tracks” ski lesson at 8:30am one morning, which was good value and a great help in finding my ski legs again! The only slight negatives were the base area dining options - the lodge was very dated, food was not very tempting and it was difficult to find a comfy seat! However, we were there for the skiing, and that was excellent!

Thank you so much for your comprehensive review! Glad to hear you found the value in the LLPC, our shuttle services, and our First Tracks Lessons. We'll be sure to pass on your feedback regarding the base area dining to our Food & Beverage teams so that we can continue to improve the guest experience. Thanks again!

Our family has skied at Lake Louise many times over the years and we keep coming back. A great mountain in a good location, not too far from Calgary, and beautiful scenery. The mountain doesn't get as much snow as some of the other resorts in BC and Alberta but the conditions were still good. There wasn't too many lines despite it being a holiday week. Definitely a must ski place for anyone visiting Canada for a ski vacation.

I had two ski lessons with Ash Reynolds back in November which were awesome. Ash took the time to cater the session to my needs and gave me great feedback on my skiing and how to continue my development post session. I left feeling confident and the sessions have hugely helped my skiing. Would really recommend ski lessons at Lake Louise, great sessions with great instructors

My young family and I had a great time on the summer gondola yesterday. While we had heard that Lake Louise itself can be congested, we had absolutely no issue collecting tickets for the gondola and riding up. I am glad we went to the ski hill side!
The view is great and there are plenty of photo opportunities and time to enjoy some solitude while viewing Lake Louise without the lakeshore crowds or the new charge for parking. We had lunch at the Whitehorn and the service from Wade B was more remarkable than the view itself. The addition of some great dishes (cauliflower wings and king mushrooms), it was the perfect Father's Day for us. We will be back!
