A little history as you enter Banff from Calgary, nice view on hillside setting. Campground is good, view of Banff Springs Hotel.

At Surprise Corner, there is a viewing platform for seeing Bow Falls and the Bow River, and for seeing the back side of the Banff Springs Hotel across the River. Then on to Two Jack Lake and Lake... No elevation - great for beginners. Not a lot of skiers here, fairly isolated, but saw Elk 3 times in about 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, they closed the park as there were wolves in the area feeding on a carcass.

Worth a look, it's a very nice drive. The huge area is worth seein, but as a Canadian I ask the everyone be respectful of the surroundings, the wildlife and keeping it clean.

Enjoyed the incrediable scenery and there is plenty to do along the way. Get a tourist map out before hand and do a little planning so you have plenty of time along the route.

My family made the relatively short drive along Tunnel Mountain Road in hopes of seeing wildlife (we saw two mule deer) and beautiful scenery. We were not disappointed with Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka. We were disappointed because the road to Johnston Lake was closed and the boat tours on Minnewanka were closed for the season, but the scenery... More
