This is a off the beaten track drive that is very rustic and beautiful. See the mountains that were carved away to make room for the road. Narrow but passable with a 56 passenger Tour bus from Canada Coach Lines.

if you want an outstanding view and photo op of the Fairmont Hotel. Pick a clear day. The view is wonderful at an area called "surprise corner". You'll know when your there!

This drive is the perfect overview. There are a couple of lookout spots that are well worth taking a half hour to explore.

Convenient places to pull over and see the vistas including the hoodoo formations. There is also a pullover at one of the bends in the road that has a very good view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The overlook has a new wooden structure with stairs to a large platform. We stopped here on the way to Lake Minnewanka and it was completely worth it. We didn't go far on the trail as it was later in the day, but you don't really even have to get out of your car to get a great view of this exquisite mountain. Definitely a must-stop for a quick 30 minute detour.

very long trains - up to 170 carriages navigate down the mountain using a figure eight winding route - it is an impressive engineering feat for sure but it very difficult to see the train amongst the tree -

An easy, short trail within Banff with specacular views of Mt. Rundle and Banff. Good for first hike to get aclimatized to the altitude.
